𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: 𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 President Joko Widodo officially inaugurated Singkawang Airport in West Kalimantan, marking a significant step forward in enhancing the region's connectivity. The new airport, with its 2,000-meter runway and 8,000-square-meter terminal, is set to accelerate the mobility of passengers, goods, and logistics, while also spurring economic growth in Singkawang City. This milestone was achieved through a successful public-private partnership (PPP) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, showcasing a collaborative model for future infrastructure projects in Indonesia. President Jokowi emphasized the importance of this collaborative approach, noting that the combined efforts of the public sector and private businesses, including contributions of Rp272 billion from the state budget and Rp155 billion from local enterprises, have made this project a reality. This model of cooperation can serve as a blueprint for other regions, demonstrating how active community involvement can accelerate infrastructure development across the country. Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi highlighted the airport’s design inspiration, drawn from the surrounding mountains—Raya, Pasi, and Poteng. The name "Singkawang," derived from the Hakka language, reflects the city's geographic characteristics, being situated on hills near the sea and an estuary. The Minister also expressed appreciation to all parties involved, including the provincial and local Forkopimdas, relevant ministries, institutions, the House of Representatives (DPR), and the local community and businesses. In addition to Singkawang Airport, the Ministry of Transportation is committed to enhancing several other transportation nodes in Kalimantan. Upgrades are planned for Rahadi Oesman Airport in Ketapang and Iskandar Airport in Pangkalan Bun, along with improvements to Kumai Port. These initiatives aim to bolster connectivity, attract more tourists, and stimulate local economic growth, ensuring a comprehensive transportation network throughout Kalimantan. The inauguration of Singkawang Airport and the ongoing improvements to other transportation facilities reflect Indonesia's dedication to developing its infrastructure.
