For the next three months, Kai is back to help us practice a path to protecting oneself without harming the individual with which you are interacting. This school of thought revolves around the reduction of hostility, re-humanization of parties, redirection of movement and seeking to disengage. This practice session will be largely experiential and learning-by-doing. The skills learned can be implemented in a number of hostile situations and open a number of paths to protecting oneself and others nonviolently. ‘Rape culture is part of the reason why sexual violence is so widespread against women and girls’ It’s part of the reason women and girls are raped. Let that sink in. Now you know this, help be part of the solution. Let’s make it really uncomfortable for anyone to do it. If you’re a leader, create an environment where it’s not acceptable, and where women feel safe coming to you to report it, and confident that you will act accordingly. If you’re a leader, you’re either part of the solution or part of the problem. Your organisations culture comes directly from you.
At Rape Crisis England & Wales, we believe that 'rape culture' is part of the reason why sexual violence and abuse is so widespread against women and girls. That's why we work hard to challenge the systems that allow rape culture to thrive. To find out more about rape culture and how you can help us to challenge it, visit our website: https://ow.ly/Lz6Y50QmkbY

In 2022, I changed my name to Freedom. It happened organically and one of the reasons that I chose the name Freedom is that for many years I put myself in a mental prison. The name Freedom is fully stepping into my purpose and power to live an intentional and impactful life on my terms. When I moved to Baltimore in 2015, I was honored to accept the position of Safe Streets Site Director for Woodborne MaCabe to understand the streets of Baltimore and make a difference and to become a credible messenger. And today, I have the privilege of serving as the Director of Violence Intervention with Safe Streets Baltimore at Center for Hope LifeBridge Health. The organization that I founded, Street Pause will enhance the work that we do at Safe Streets by providing an alternative to calling law enforcement and will address the digital violence that is now prevalent on social media platforms and making its way into communities across the country. I believe that we need to be the change that we seek, which means taking action to cultivate harmonious and safe environments. There was a time when I didn’t feel confident about launching an organization, but I believe that we truly have to be the change we seek. The only way that we can have more harmony and safer digital and community environments is through action. Please follow Street Pause (street_pause) on Instagram. We will build our presence on all the digital platforms and you will learn the issues we aim to address, like addressing growing digital violence and the ways you can support this work and engage people in the community. #freedom #streetpause #communityempowerment #safesolutions #peacefulsolutions

Justice comes when there's no one to receive. Ending rape culture requires collective effort and systemic change. It involves challenging harmful attitudes, educating on consent, supporting survivors, holding perpetrators accountable, and reshaping societal norms. Together, we must strive for a world where all individuals can live free from the fear of sexual violence. Child education plays a crucial role in dismantling rape culture. Teaching children about respect, consent, boundaries, and empathy from a young age lays the foundation for healthy relationships and helps prevent sexual violence. By fostering a culture of respect and equality early on, we can work towards eradicating rape culture and creating a safer society for all.
