Introduction to Safety Procedures and Reporting. Safety procedures are essential to protect against hazards and prevent accidents. Reporting safety concerns promptly allows for timely resolution and prevention of future incidents. Everyone's responsibility is to identify and report hazards, contributing to a safer work environment. Here are the steps to follow when reporting a safety concern: 1. Identify the Hazard: Recognize any potential hazards or unsafe conditions in your work area. 2. Report the Hazard: Inform your supervisor or the designated safety officer about the hazard as soon as possible. 3. Provide Details: Be specific about the nature of the hazard, its location, and any potential risks associated with it. 4. Take Action: If necessary, take immediate action to mitigate the risk, such as isolating the area or implementing temporary controls. 5. Follow Up: Ensure that the hazard is addressed promptly and follow up to confirm that appropriate measures have been taken. From QHSE Department.

What is the Difference between Safety Audit and Safety Inspection ? #Audit A safety audit checks how well an organization’s safety programs and regulations are working. It looks at policies, procedures, and the overall safety culture. Audits are done periodically by trained auditors and result in a detailed report with long-term safety recommendations. #Inspection A safety inspection identified immediate hazards and ensures daily compliance with safety procedures. It focuses on specific conditions, equipment, and work practices at a site. Conducted regularly by safety officers, supervisors, or employees, inspections highlight hazards and suggest quick corrective actions & preventive action.

A good safety program that includes streamlined risk management and effective safety training may mitigate most of the safety hazards, but accidents can still occur. It's essential that any such accident is thoroughly investigated to find the root cause of the accident and prevent future incidents.to effectively understand the cause and prevent similar accidents in the future, every EHS member of the team should be trained in investigation techniques. They should learn the factors that commonly cause accidents and how to analyze information to find the root cause of the accident. They need to know how to develop corrective actions to prevent future incidents. Root causes include: Physical hazards or unsafe conditions: A leaky roof causing slipping hazards, defective ladders, or rusty equipment, for example Human behaviors: This could be things like using equipment without safety guards or not wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) Failure of management systems: For example, a lack of employee training or failure to enforce safety rules The investigative team should know each of these root causes and be able to identify them when they complete the investigation.

Safety Inspection and Audit are the two extremely important elelements in safety for any industry. Inspections will help to manage uncotrolled hazards (unsafe acts and conditions) by checking the people, equipment/plant and the work environment in general. Audit ensures wether the HSE management system is effective and suitable or not, and enables to clearly understand the the HSE managment system and commitment by the top management of the company. Note that the audit includes inspection as well. Both of them is to improve workplace safety, eventhough they differ in scope and objectives to some extent!!

*Auditing is a mechanism for verifying that an organisation’s safety management system is in place and operating effectively. It is: • Systematic. • Objective. • Critical. *An inspection is a simpler process of checking the workplace for uncontrolled hazards and addressing any that are found. simply say, audit is more deeper verifying than inspection. #conveysafetymessage
