In life, you never know what is waiting for you in the next turn ahead. Threats like hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, fires or some other natural disasters, break-ins, vandalism, electronic hacking and other malicious events might be prowling around waiting to pounce on you anytime during the year. You never know when a disaster will strike, or what damage it will cause. There may be little or nothing you can do to prevent your home or office from being destroyed or damaged, but you can at least ensure that no matter what happens, your tax, financial and other personal records will be safe. You can take a few simple steps to protect your tax and financial records in case of a disaster: bit.ly/azmg030 Azmoneyguy.com. #azmoneyguy #roberthockensmith #taxtips #52pickup #52pickuptax #efile #filetaxes #52waystooutsmarttheirs

I have been fielding a lot of questions this week all relating to "so what happens when something like this happens?" The establishment of a Unified Command (UC) being run under an Incident Management System (ICS) structure, according to the the National Incident Management System (NIMS) is what happens. Really it means we have the right leadership and the right resources in place to work with multi-agency and multi-jurisdictional partners and a wide variety of stakeholders to bring our strengths and capabilities together to solve the problem as safely, efficiently, and quickly as possible. Coordinated efforts, common objectives, shared resources and support systems. This is what we train for...... So when the time comes, we can step in to our position within the ICS organization and do our part to support the response.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector National Capital Region has established a Unified Command and Joint Information Center to coordinate response efforts and disseminate information following the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. The Key Bridge Response 2024 Unified Command includes the U.S. Department of Homeland Security U.S. Coast Guard, Maryland Department of the Environment, Maryland Transportation Authority Maryland State Police and Synergy Marine. The Unified Command's operational priorities include ensuring public and first responder safety, accountability of missing persons, protecting the environment, incident stabilization, safely restoring transportation infrastructure and commerce, and supporting the investigation. Getting after it this morning. Had a new opportunity present itself recently, and the minimum requirement is rucking 6 miles with 35+ lbs. in under 90 minutes, plus a swim, plus jump school. You never know when that extra effort you put into your training regiment is going to be needed. Most times, it's optional. Sometimes, you have no choice. Look at our world today, and how brazen bad actors are becoming. If the area around your work or home gets rough, evacuating by vehicle is not possible, and the only way out of the danger zone is on foot with whatever you can carry, could you do it? Do you have sufficient physical fitness to do it? Test your assumption(s), and be confident in your planning. The threats from the battlefield overseas have followed us home, as we saw with eight ISIS-K suspects arrested in New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia recently (https://lnkd.in/g6AW8hhn). How many more are still on the loose? Be proactive vs. reactive. We can’t prepare for everything, but focusing on being mobile and mentally resilient is a good start. Everybody have a good week and be mindful of your environment. “Always Ready, Always There”

1993 WTC BOMBING AND US ISREALI SUPPORT The post below provides a much needed reminder of the significance of today. I was a 19 y/o paramedic student at Beekman Downtown Hospital, just blocks from the towers on that fateful day. We had no idea what terrorism was, or that this was such an act. It's our forgetfulness and desire to move on with life and achieve normalcy after such high impact incidents (we like to call it resilience), that brought us 9/11. The groups involved in both attacks, claimed that they wanted to punish the US for it's aid and support of the state of Israel. And now we have Hamas, Daesh, a slew of other non-state actors, and domestic actors threatening the US with violence for our continued backing of Israel in the wake of the October 7th terror attacks. The bad actors are still out there my friends. They are more plentiful, they have even greater apocalyptic aspirations, and some of them are our own countrymen. Our support for Isreal is a testimony to our long-term, strategic goal of countering extremism, terrorism and rougue states. While Israel has not always been the best partner in this enterprise, they are our friends nonetheless. Friends argue, they disagree, and they often don't see eye-to-eye. I have on numerous occasions publicly questioned their CT tactics and human rights approach. That said, be clear; the only country in that region that had our back on that grim day in 1993 was Israel. And while others in the region were dancing, laughing and parading in the streets on 9/11, Isrealis cried, prayed for us and their children sent letters to our children. Because that's what friends do. So from a purely counterterrorism standpoint, I am biased in my support for Isreal. Why? We should never cowtow to terrorists' demands to abandon our allies. To what end? They will simply find new demands to issue that are even more unrealistic. They don't want peace, they want death. To reward terrorism and give in to their desires is to make it clear that terrorism is a profitable and acceptable means to an end. Let us never forget the lessons that 1993 and 9/11 taught us. For if we do, we condemn our children to suffering the same fate as we did, or perhaps something far worse.. #neverforget #thewestisnext #Israel #supportisrael #freepalestinefromhamas #hamas

Today marks 31 years since the February 26, 1993 bombing at the World Trade Center. That day, six innocent people lost their lives, over 1,000 were injured, and more than 700 police, fire, and rescue personnel responded to the emergency. As we honor the memory of John DiGiovanni, Robert Kirkpatrick, Stephen A. Knapp, William Macko, Wilfredo Mercado, and Monica Rodriguez Smith, who was pregnant when she was killed, we must also consider the question - have we made progress in enhancing our security measures or have we forgotten the lessons of that day? The threat of terrorism remains a complex and ongoing issue that requires constant attention and collaboration. Let us continue to work together to ensure the safety of our communities and never forget the lives lost on that tragic day. #NeverForget #WorldTradeCenterBombing #TerrorismAwareness
