"Bringing Current Affairs into Everyday Learning: Building Awareness and Empathy" With today’s fast-paced global events—advancements in technology, economic shifts, and sustainability challenges—staying connected with real-world issues feels more important than ever. Recently, I’ve found that discussing these topics in everyday conversations sparks deeper insights and understanding. Whether it’s AI advancements, climate action, or the global economy, engaging with current affairs builds empathy and helps us see the bigger picture. I’d love to hear how others incorporate global awareness into their work or daily lives. What recent event has impacted your perspective the most, and how do you think it’s shaping our future? _______🌐

Historians will likely look back on our current era (the early 21st century) as a time of significant change and challenges. Here are some potential topics they might focus on: The rise of information technology and the digital age The increasing interconnectedness of the global community Major geopolitical shifts, including the rise of new world powers The ongoing climate crisis and its effects Social and economic inequalities The specific narrative will depend on how we address these challenges. By considering the long-term impact of our actions today, we can help shape a more positive story for the future.

From Ideas to Impact: Innovation in Business for Climate Action and Beyond Here are some insights from the incredible event sparked by the CentreForCreativity inProfessionalPractice at Bayes Business School, as part of celebrating Creativity and Innovation on Earth Day. The Planet as a Stakeholder: Are our organization's indicators reducing environmental impact? And are we strengthening decision-making in our teams to achieve this? Redefining the Concept of Value: What are we measuring and understanding as value in our organisation? How diverse, collaborative, and sustainable is this definition? Be the Radical Change You Want to See in the World: In our organisations, how much time are we dedicating to exploring different futures? (and not just the short-term one). Spaces Framed by Crisis: How are we creating spaces for reflection on the future? How are we anticipating some of the possible crises that lie ahead? A New Type of Economy: How do we begin to measure what really matters? How much are we weighing our quality of life, well-being, and happiness? Interconnection with Other Organizations: How extensively are we collaborating with other organizations to address upcoming challenges? Are we developing joint solutions to positively impact our customers and ecosystem? Conscious Creativity: What if, instead of continuously producing more content (especially in the advertising industry), we focused on recycling and regenerating it? Can we begin to reconsider the 'novelty' of our products and services and their environmental impact?" If you notice, these are questions and not answers to an open conversation and reflection, which, as a person passionate about innovation and creativity, lead us to proactive and collaborative spaces. The phrase that I believe largely summarizes this journey is: Provoke for good! And regardless of the uncertainty and ambiguity we increasingly have to deal with, it is important to have guiding principles and clarity in the positive impact we must lead. 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗪𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀? 𝗗𝗼 𝗪𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀? After attending the United Nations Summit of the Future Action Days, I was left with key questions: Are we measuring what truly matters? Are we valuing the right outcomes? To face the challenges of tomorrow, we need to restructure our institutions and create agile, responsive systems that can adapt to our rapidly changing world. This begins with placing value in the right areas and ensuring we have the capacity to track our progress. One major step is redeveloping indicators that are informed by the voices of vulnerable communities—those most heavily impacted by the changing environment. Shockingly, 47% 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘎𝘰𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴, largely because not all voices were included in their development. Now more than ever, Social Return on Investment (SROI) and Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) are critical in reshaping how we address today’s challenges and in ensuring we are making real progress. By developing new indicators, restructuring institutions, and improving data collection, we can empower communities to collaborate globally in solving today’s challenges. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹?
