The city is also at the forefront of autonomous vehicle technology, illustrating its holistic approach to eco-friendly urban travel. 🚲 Amsterdam’s Cycling Revolution: Amsterdam sets the standard for urban cycling and electric vehicle adoption. With ambitious plans to have cycling comprise 35% of all city travel by 2030 and a target of over 80,000 electric vehicle charging points, Amsterdam is on a fast track to eliminating fossil fuel transport. Amsterdam also focuses on enhancing public transit accessibility and increasing pedestrian spaces to encourage more diverse modes of sustainable urban travel, ensuring all city residents can navigate efficiently and safely. Shared scooters are quietly transforming how people move in cities, and a new survey suggests they could have a big impact on urban transport. A recent study from Bolt found that 53% of scooter riders are more likely to switch from cars to public transport when shared micromobility is available. 39% of surveyed riders also said they would have used a private car if scooters weren't available, indicating that micromobility could be helping to shift habits toward more sustainable travel. The study also highlighted a positive economic effect: nearly half of riders pause their journeys to use local businesses. However, others have raised concerns that shared scooters may compete with other sustainable modes, such as walking, cycling, and public transport. Further research is needed about how to better integrate shared micromobility into existing transport systems. 🌿 Driving a greener future with Fast Travel🌿 When Fast Travel first partnered with Oslo Airport, our mission was clear: to evolve airport transfers while also prioritizing sustainability and reducing our environmental impact. At that time, less than 15% of the taxi fleet consisted of zero-emission vehicles, and the taxi stands were crowded with idling engines, creating unnecessary CO2 emissions. Here is what we have done to ensure sustainability: 🌟Expand zero-emission fleet  We've made significant strides by tripling the number of zero-emission vehicles. Today, we're proud to say that up to 75% of all taxi trips at Oslo Airport are now serviced by zero-emission cars. 🌟Reducing idle time and emissions  Previously, our taxi waiting area was filled with idling taxis, sluggishly waiting their turn to drive up to the second waiting area. Most of the time, they were still hours away from a trip. This meant engines idling unnecessarily, contributing to CO2 emissions. To combat this, we re-engineered our process: taxis now only enter the waiting area when there are confirmed bookings. This approach drastically reduces idle time and emissions, showcasing a more efficient and eco-conscious way of operating. 🌟Digital receipts  We’ve embraced digital solutions to further our environmental efforts by eliminating paper receipts. Now, all verification is sent directly to passengers’ smartphones, saving trees each year. Fast Travel is not just about getting people from A to B; it's about leading the way in eco-friendly travel solutions. Another lastest paper with my student, Manlian Pan. We examined the competitiveness of multi-leg multi-modal MaaS-enabled travel options to private car usage for commuting trips under equilibrium. It suggests that the often overlooked flow-dependent inconveniences in MaaS literature actually set up an upper bound for the served demand, therebying confining the mode share of MaaS.
