Never let your university or college name define you. I have seen so many students who are insecure about their university or college they have graduated from. They carry this insecurity for many years. A 3 hour exam with 180 multiple choice questions cannot define you as a person. The grad school application process and the university where you get in, cannot define you as a person. Human potential is way higher than that. A top university or college can open doors for you. But what happens after that door opens is entirely upto the hardwork you put in. That hardwork is independent of the college or university. If you are reading this: keep working hard, keep working on projects, internships, research publications. It does not matter in the long run which college you belong to. Human potential is way higher than a rank given based on fixed metrics.

Strategic Higher Ed Leader Specializing in Career Development, Internships, Student Employment, Scholarships, Fellowships, and Assessment
According to a report from the Business-Higher Education Forum (highlighted in an article in Inside Higher Ed), there simply aren’t enough internships to meet the growing demand from students seeking career-building experiences. This shortage of internships can limit opportunities for students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, to gain valuable real-world experience. https://lnkd.in/emnZBj8e At UC San Diego, we’re leaning into the power of our Student Employment Program to fill this gap! Through work-study and on-campus employment, students are not only earning income but also gaining critical skills and career preparation. A 2023 report from the American Association of Colleges & Universities (AAC&U Innovate) highlights that employers value work-study experiences just as much as internships. https://lnkd.in/ea77kAyW This approach is more than just about preparing students for their future careers — it’s a tool for closing equity gaps and providing opportunities for all students to thrive in today’s competitive job market. #UCSanDiego #CareerReady #StudentEmployment #WorkStudy #ExperientialLearning #CareerDevelopment #EquityInAction #StudentSuccess #TritonStyle

𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 #𝟬𝟯 Semester started with high hopes for academics, but got sidetracked by deep dives into internships, my first on-site one being a game-changer. However, amidst the professional growth, I inadvertently disregarded a college attendance warning, unaware of the looming challenges ahead. Earning from internships led to a spree of spending, feeling like a dopamine high—fun, but guilt followed swiftly. It felt like a quick thrill, but then guilt hit me. As the semester rolled on, the attendance issue at our college got serious. As attendance issues intensified, I got serious. Post-internships, I attended every class, saving myself from detention. (there is a whole lore, do check it out) Despite a zero in attendance marks, I managed exams while handling a lot of activities. And get this – the exams went on for a whole month, six of them in total! Plus, the prep leaves were strategically placed just before the extra subjects, and none during the main subjects' exams. Talk about a balancing act! It wasn't easy, but I dodged the challenges, and here I am, grateful for the lessons learned and ready for the next semester. (not really, but do not have any choice)

Summer marks a milestone for students as they navigate graduation, prom, internships, and career pursuits. Amidst this whirlwind, some face the tough decision of transferring colleges—a journey I truly understand. Personally, I needed a fresh start. I couldn't escape academic probation for the life of me. Once you receive a low GPA, it is so hard to get back up. The University wasn't a great fit for me as I hoped it to be. If you're considering a transfer, here are four crucial factors to ponder: credit transfer, academic fit, long-term goals, and financial considerations. 🎓✨ #SummerMilestones #CollegeTransfer #FreshStart #TransferringColleges If you ever transferred college, let me know about your experience.

This belief is your worst enemy in college life. "I got into a good college, I don't need to do anything else" But what's the problem? isn't the college responsible for my career now? Well they are, to some extent... But you are still the captain of your ship. The college will only provide you the infrastructure, the network and the opportunities. But it wouldn't magically turn you 'Job Ready' unless there's equal efforts and participation from you. It's on you to squeeze out your investments and make the best of what's available. So if you haven't started yet: - Start participating in events - Ask more questions in class - Organize quizzes & competitions - Take a part-time job or internships - Improve your public speaking skills If it makes it easier for you: Most students waste their graduation days only to be serious during post grad which becomes a burden. If you start now, Time is your superpower. ps: I spent most of my college days on a part time job and this is one of the rare class photographs featuring me.
