Joining this roundtable was a real treat. Gunter Pauli chaired the discussion and presented once again a truly compelling case for the “#BlueEconomy” that he has actively championed for years and, more broadly, for a sustainable future that is not only most desirable, but also actually possible. Entrepreneurship plays a major role in meeting the sustainability challenges of our time, by effectively turning them into opportunities. Yet, a shift away from the traditional “core business, core competence" model and the full harnessing of science, innovation and a broad set of diverse but complementary competences, are essential to ultimately look at processes systemically and identify value in what is (often in large proportions) traditionally overlooked or, even worse, discarded - from tea/coffee brewing’s biomass leftovers to stone dust waste of mining operations, to stranded petrochemical crackers (www.zeri.org). The event brought together relevant voices from a wide array of sectors and regions.
