Raymart has a background as a Chemist, but has spent most of his career in technical sales, and business development roles. From constrution to electrical wholesale: Embracing a new challenge After years as the Regional African Director at SGB-Cape, I recently made the move to ARB Electrical Wholesalers as General Manager for Africa. The shift marks a significant change in my career path, from the technical, project-driven environment of construction and industrial services to the dynamic, strategy-focused world of electrical wholesale. At SGB-Cape, I built my expertise in rope access, and industrial services—fields that required deep technical knowledge and hands-on involvement in large-scale projects. My role was about solving complex, technical challenges in a fast-paced environment. In contrast, my new position at ARB focuses on developing strategic initiatives to grow our presence in the African market. This requires a broader perspective—one that involves building partnerships, understanding market trends, and identifying growth opportunities across the continent. This career pivot has been both exciting and challenging. Stepping out of my comfort zone as a technical expert has pushed me to think differently. Now, my focus is on how to position ARB as a market leader in Africa, ensuring we deliver value to our customers while growing our footprint. I’ve always been driven by a desire to learn and grow, and this transition gives me the perfect platform to do just that.
