Gary Fleisher identifies how Modular is revolutionising the way we build yet still some OSM’s continue to fail. Modular construction offers efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness, yet challenges can hinder success. To overcome setbacks, conduct a thorough project audit covering financials, schedules, and quality control. Enhance communication with regular updates, clear documentation, and feedback loops. Consider restructuring management and renegotiating contracts for flexibility. Focus on proper modular integration with site preparation and expert installation teams. Maintain transparent stakeholder engagement through regular reporting. With decisive action and adaptability, a troubled modular construction factory can transform into a success story. https://lnkd.in/dgF5gz5m The Hon Richard Evans 🇬🇧 Andrew Wilkinson #MMC #success #failure #transition

What Are the Main Differences Between Modular Construction and Traditional On-Site Construction? Modular construction and traditional on-site methods have unique advantages and challenges. Here’s a closer look at how they differ in key areas like cost, speed, quality, and sustainability: 1/ Construction Location Traditional on-site construction involves building every phase—from foundation to finishing—at the project site, where work is sequential and weather-dependent. Modular construction, on the other hand, takes place mainly in a factory. Building modules are prefabricated in controlled environments and then transported to the site for assembly. This off-site process enables tasks to happen simultaneously, boosting efficiency. 🏗️ Off-site factory builds = streamlined construction. 2/ Time Efficiency Modular construction reduces timelines by 30-50% due to parallel processes, with site prep and module manufacturing happening simultaneously. Traditional construction is often slower because it follows a sequential path and is susceptible to delays from weather or supply chain issues. ⏳ Faster builds = faster project completion. 3/ Cost Control Modular construction offers cost efficiency through economies of scale, reduced labour needs, and minimized material waste. Bulk material purchasing in factories lowers costs, and standardized processes reduce errors. Traditional construction tends to be more expensive due to labour intensity, on-site delays, and potential rework when issues arise. 💸 Lower costs = better budget control. 4/ Quality Control Modular construction benefits from a factory-controlled setting, where quality can be maintained consistently with frequent inspections. Traditional construction can be variable in quality due to changing site conditions, labour availability, and weather. Mistakes are harder to correct, and quality may fluctuate. 🔍 Controlled environments = high consistency. 5/ Sustainability Modular construction is more sustainable, generating less waste and using materials efficiently. It also minimizes environmental disruption at the construction site due to shorter on-site times. Traditional on-site construction often produces more material waste and has a greater environmental impact due to prolonged site activity and resource inefficiency. 🌍 Less waste = more eco-friendly building. TLDR: Modular construction provides a faster, more controlled, and eco-friendly building solution, while traditional methods offer flexibility but are generally slower, labour-intensive, and less sustainable. Each approach has its merits, depending on project goals, timelines, and budget. P.S. Curious about how modular can transform your next project?
