If you don’t have one yet, now’s the time to develop one – even if it’s just text without any fancy design. A rate card gives your services structure and clarity. Avoid the habit of asking potential clients, “𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒖𝒅𝒈𝒆𝒕?” right off the bat. This approach can make it seem like your pricing is arbitrary or lacks consistency. Serious clients value professionalism, and having set pricing shows you’re confident in the value of your work. When a client asks for pricing, I direct them to the pricing page on my website. If they have a specific request, like event photography, I’ll point them to the relevant package, e.g., “Our event photography package starts at ......” For broader requests like, “𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔?” here’s my process: 1. I ask them what type of video they’re looking to create. 2. I request a reference if they have one, so I can better understand their expectations. 3. Once I review the reference video, I align it with our standard package and provide a quote based on that. If the reference doesn’t match our standard offerings, I let them know it would be a custom package, tailored to their specific needs. Remember, having a clear pricing structure boosts your credibility and helps clients understand the value you bring to the table. 🚨 Procastination : A Silent Dream Killer 🚨 I want to share something personal that has affected the trajectory of my life: procrastination. Looking back, I can see where I could have been today had I taken action sooner. In 2017, I started learning photography and cinematography 🎥. I became so skilled that I began training others on my church's media team. You'd think by now I'd have a successful studio or be at the top of my career... but I'm not. Why? I kept waiting for the "perfect" moment. I wanted to master everything—camera handling, editing, and more—before taking the plunge. But in doing so, I procrastinated and didn't move forward. Fast forward to 2024, and despite my knowledge, I find myself on the same level as a beginner. Setting up a studio now feels almost impossible with rising costs 📈. But two months ago, I decided to pivot and pursue my love for administrative tasks by becoming a virtual assistant 💻. With professional training, I’m gradually gaining ground. Have I forgotten my earlier passion? No. Will I return to it? Absolutely. One lesson I want to share: Don't wait until everything is perfect to start something. Start small, and you will grow big.
