As I near the final stages of preparing a presentation on Montessori and independent schools, I came across an article discussing pre-corrective lessons in traditional education. 📚 The article defined pre-correction as a way to "tell students how to approach a new task or situation." This concept resonated with me as a Montessori teacher, drawing a parallel between pre-correction and our Grace & Courtesy lessons. 🌱 In Montessori education, Grace & Courtesy lessons teach children the socially accepted behaviors of their community. These lessons are a cornerstone of our curriculum, particularly emphasized at the beginning of the school year to help children adapt to classroom norms and school expectations. 🏫✨ The article I read provided an example of a traditional education teacher instructing students on how to walk on a specific side of the hallway, giving the directive before they began walking. 🚶♂️🚶♀️ While there are differences between this approach and Montessori's methods, I was struck by the shared positive intention behind pre-correction. 🌟 Both approaches aim to create a respectful and positive learning environment for children. Though pre-correction is still quite different from the Montessori philosophy, it represents a step toward fostering respect for children and enhancing their experiences in traditional school settings. 🌈👧👦 #Montessori #MontessoriEducation #TraditionalEducation #GraceAndCourtesy #PreCorrection #ChildDevelopment #Education #LearningEnvironments #RespectForChildren #PositiveLearning #IndependentSchools

As educators, we spend an enormous amount of time on lesson planning and the deconstruction of reading standards to meet the instructional needs of our students. But- “What about the emotional needs and environment?” Our students need to be in an environment that promotes both academic success and emotional wellbeing. Students that have positive relationships with their teachers and adults at school, often feel safe and secure which allows them to learn and develop. We know from experience that students will often search for a sense of connection with the people they know, and since students spend a large amount of time at school, it is imperative that the learning environment cultivates a sense of belonging for ALL students. Picture below- ⬇️ In my head, I am thinking… 🤔 Principal Classroom Check-ins throughout the school. He visits a kindergarten classroom. ⏬ This is an example of students feeling a sense of belonging and the emotional connection is evident. #earlychildhoodeducation #k12education #teachers #schoolleadership #educationalleadership #reading #literacy #schoolprincipals #superintendents #earlychildhood

I have a major goal to reach out to parents and teachers of children aged 3 to 6, helping them become resourceful and capable Montessori guides. I aim to encourage them to improvise and make the most of their resources. So far, I have worked with many children in this age group. The experience has been incredibly rewarding, motivating me to support parents and teachers who can do even more with their wards. I am reaching out through: 1. Training for teachers and parents: Teaching them to become scientific observers of their children's ages and interests. 2. Early childhood education consulting. 3. Sharing my experiences here on LinkedIn. Why Montessori? Children have an innate interest in the world around them. It is through their natural curiosity that they develop themselves. Montessori education provides a carefully prepared environment that supports the natural process of child development. Through the Montessori approach, children develop fundamental capacities that are needed to become happy, fulfilled adults who contribute to society in a thoughtful, successful way. Let me know in the comments below what questions you have about Montessori education! My DM is also open any questions you have. ___________________________________ 𝑰'𝒎 𝑨𝒅𝒆𝒅𝒂𝒑𝒐 𝑶𝒌𝒆𝒐𝒘𝒐 𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒚 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 30 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔.
