If you don't have people in your life that help you be a better version of yourself, lift you up, let you know they love you, and share how you've made an impact on them, please let me share mine with you.
Many years ago I attended my first HDI Local Chapter event to learn more about how to be successful in my job. I don't remember the topic for that event but I learned enough that I decided to keep going back. At one of those events, I was asked if I'd be interested in joining the local chapter board to help plan events and grow the chapter. It seemed like a great way to network and expand my skill sets in a professional organization, so I said yes. It is one of the best decisions I've made in my life.
Approximately 10 years later, I've just returned from my favorite weekend every year, the HDI Local Chapter Officer Leadership Summit. I had the opportunity to spend an entire weekend with 60 of the most amazing people. We learned about GenAI, strategy, CX, taking your career to the next level, ITIL, balancing in times of stress, growing employee ownership and commitment, neurodiversity, running a local chapter, and so many more topics.
Part of the mission of HDI Local Chapters is to build a community. It starts with our Local Chapter Officers. These people will celebrate your wins with you and help hold you up when you don't feel like you can hold yourself up any more. It doesn't matter if it's work-life or personal-life, we are here for each other. My favorite part is the affirmations we share with each other. We carve time out of our schedule to specifically let people know the impact they've had on us. It is a very powerful experience.
Over the weekend, Phil Gerbyshak shared with us something he learned about making pick ups, and drop offs, you need to leave something behind and not just take something away. I'm sure I brought home more than I left behind this weekend. My cup runneth over, and my heart does too.
Huge thanks to Robert Half, Splashtop Inc., and SymphonyAI for being our National Sponsors and making this event possible. Also Brew City HDI for all the hard work helping coordinate a great event.
