I saw this as a SIGN (yes, it’s a pun. I’m the dad to four daughters. It’s part of the job.)  BIG THINGS HAPPEN HERE Last year, we decided on more than just a name change to Propeller Talent. We are thinking BIG, just like the sign. We’ve worked nationally for 25 years, mainly in the Midwest, serving Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, Industrial Services, and Distribution. Our big plans meant moving beyond the Midwest. I saw this sign while leaving Love Field in Dallas on my first trip. The statement was so “in your face” that I needed to take a picture. Now I spend 50% of my time here. Why Dallas, you ask? 1. Incredible growth that a lot of the Country hasn’t fully grasped 2. Infectious energy: It seems that everyone I meet has a boundless amount of energy and optimism about the future 3. Welcoming people who are always happy to network and provide introductions to others  4. Diverse groups of people that come from all parts of the country (and beyond), building something special while always keeping sight of where they came from and continuing to leverage their relationships in their hometowns  Propeller Talent’s future is bright here in Dallas! We remain committed to the Midwest and our Midwestern roots, and our Dallas presence helps add value to our existing clients. With (Inspired by MANY real life events over the last 11 years of running an agency.) — Some may call it semantics, and I’m sure this topic has been covered before, but since it has bothered me for years I want to add my humble perspective to the conversation. This one has always bothered me to my core. UNFOLD currently has somewhere in the realm of 150+ members on the team. Not one of them works *FOR* Daniel Weisinger and I. Everyone works *WITH* Daniel and I, or better said, we work along side one another. This is such an important distinction because the team that exists at UNFOLD do not exist to prop up our Fabergé egos. Truth be told I actually don’t want to hire anyone that wants to work FOR us. Working FOR us suggests subordination and all the heady power dynamics that accompany it. None of which give us an advantage over competition or make the company vastly stronger. Working WITH on the other hand speaks to the mutual respect we covet, and communicating with everyone as equals. We want the team to feel okay to disagree with us when necessary. We want the team to feel okay to take a big swing and not live in fear of a miss. We want the team to know that we’re in it with them. We want the team to know that we win together and we lose together. (I can list so many more, but I gotta wrap this up.) Most important to me is that working WITH honors all the hard work, late nights, and battles fought (won or lost) that we have seen together over the years. I count my blessings that we have had the privilege of working along side some the most intensely smart, talented, driven, passionate and dedicated mother-funkers on the planet. (Got a little carried away bragging on the team a little.) Daniel and I, we ain’t the CEOs managing from afar via a P&L. We are proud on the ground operators, grinding it out most days to move the needle to accomplish the business objectives at hand. This only happens by working WITH the team.

Murphy’s Law - fly to the other side of the country and one of my kids gets sick.     Leaving my husband to juggle the two kids, end of school term activities…oh and of course, his own work.   I’ve been in Sydney for the past three days, meeting up in person for the first time with an amazing group of business women led by Janine Garner, who have (virtually) become a solid part of my support crew this year.   Reflecting on our growth and learnings, celebrating our wins, and getting clear about our vision and goals for the year ahead.   I used to do this on my own a couple of times a year but as With Verve and I have evolved, I now get huge value and a major energy and inspiration boost from doing it in this fine company.   My business, the value I bring to my clients and I as a person will be better for having spent this time away from home.   But I have to be honest, when I got that call to say my daughter was sick the morning I arrived, I immediately felt guilt.   Whether it’s your role as parent, carer, business owner, CEO or Exec leader, you’ve got a lot of people relying on you and you want to be there for them when they need you.   But to be the best you and bring your best to others, it’s okay to take time out to focus on you.   👉🏻 To envision what’s possible.   👉🏻 To get clarity on your direction.   👉🏻 To commit to decisions and actions that will enable you to lead for impact.   You simply can’t do this well when you’re stuck in the day-to-day.   And it’s only possible to do this with the right people around you.   I couldn’t do it without the amazing fellow business owners and leaders I’ve spent the past few days with. Moving forward better than we were the day before…   His name was “Whisky” – the sturdy, friendly and well-mannered camel I rode during our sunset excursion in the outback while vacationing with my family in Australia. Although our camel excursion wasn’t quite as risky as my paragliding adventure, it was still an amazing experience – getting closer to nature and seeing the spectacular landscape from 6 feet up instead of 6,000!   These epic outdoor experiences halfway around the world provided me so many memories with my son and daughter, but also gave me time to reflect on my role of leading a best-in-class financial services team focused on delivering on our purpose to make financial lives better. As a leader, I know what got us here won’t necessarily help us win in the future. And so, I pose this question to myself and when connecting with teammates: “how can we get even better”? Our strategy has proven so successful, but what will it take to win in an increasingly competitive market and deliver for our clients’ changing needs and for our communities and each other?   The answer is more than having talented associates, the right priorities, and the right tactics. All of that is critical of course – but we know none of it matters without flawless execution! This is what separates thriving businesses from those that fall behind. For us, it’s about execution. And, like the caravan of camels, it’s about taking decisive action and walking together with a common purpose. #OneTeam
