💡It’s okay to show vulnerability; it doesn’t make us weak. It makes us human and relatable.
But society continues to give us the wrong messages...
Business owners are still told ‘Your the boss, you should know how to run a business’
Parents are still told ‘You shouldn’t be doing it that way.’
Women are still told ‘You’re overreacting’
Men are still told ‘Just man up’
Children are still told ‘You need to grow up!’
Gen Z are still told ‘What have you got to worry about at your age?’
How do we process our feelings if we are taught to hide them?
How do we stand up for anything when we were taught not to rock the boat or bring shame to our families?
Shame to our families, seriously? People still say this in 2024?!
We have more freedom than ever to speak about things that matter to us.
Talk about something that we’re struggling with, in our business, or our life.
Say we’re feeling sad,or happy and everything in between.
Yet many of us are still scared to show our vulnerability because we believe it will be taken advantage of. That's true; it can happen, and that's where strengthening our judgement and intuition will come in handy.
BUT,
What if our vulnerability brought us our ideal client or job?
Sparked an idea in another person?
Helped us understand ourselves and processed our own emotions better?
Changed the direction of someone's life?
There’s immense power in vulnerability, and I’m glad that the world is starting to recognise that.
What are your thoughts on embracing vulnerability in today's society? How does this differ from when you were younger?
Here's a powerful video from the legendary Brené Brown to spark thought 👇

"That's how winning is done!" Brilliant to see one of Rocky's speeches resonating with a younger audience, in this case a magical interaction with young 'Ro' who has memorised one of the great monologues from the 'Rocky Balboa' movie and recites it to his hero at the Rocky statue.
Great to see 77 year old Sylvester Stallone get into the spirit of things and is still a role model and motivator.
The legendary actor was in Philadelphia late last year for the inaugural "Rocky Day."
If you need a pep talk about the power of resilience - look no further than this one:
--
"Let me tell you something you already know."
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows."
"It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it."
"You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life."
"But it ain't about how hard you hit."
"It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."
"How much you can take and keep moving forward."
"That's how winning is done!"

“Winners are just dreamers who never gave up!” — Unknown
As football season kicks off, I’m reminded of the powerful message in one of my favorite movies, Rudy. It’s a story about perseverance, resilience, and heart—all qualities we need to achieve the goals and dreams that drive us in both life and in our careers.
Here are some lessons from Rudy we can all apply in our professional journeys:
1. Suit Up: Equip yourself with the tools to succeed—resilience to fend off negativity, and the ability to communicate wisely and always surround yourself with positivity.
2. Find Blockers: Build a strong support system. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and will help clear the path, be it mentors, colleagues, or close connections. Take advice from people you would trade places with!
3. Know the Plays: Approach each task with dedication. Always give your best, even in challenging situations, and bounce back quickly when things don’t go as planned.
4. Tackle: Confront the obstacles—fears, doubts, and setbacks—that stand between you and your career aspirations.
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.” — Henry Ford
This trailer of Rudy’s story is so inspiring:

A Spiritual leader born of a "Collective Consciousness," destined to unite our worlds of Faith & Science in our pursuit of growth & expansion for the total sum of Hue-manity.
With so much of our Collective now #conscious of the implosions going on within both the Political & Entertainment arenas, I thought it TIMELY to remind us all of the wealth of information currently available to us as to what NOT TO DO in the new world now unfolding, and how to better avoid the very same pitfalls that have led so many of these particular "leaders" astray.
For there are a great many of you I hear, that are now being poised to take positions that will one day replace those of the most corruptive & hypocritical figures around, who are being seen brought before an obvious form of final judgement.
Where there will be no place to hide from the light that now shines down upon their misdeeds towards our very own people, from our #CollectiveConsciousness who they claimed to be somehow "serving."
And though we know better than to ever judge another for the past mistakes they have made, SOME MISTAKES ONLY GOD CAN FORGIVE, ay?
So let go & let God!
For what the Great Architect has in store for them is much better than anything we could have ever dreamt of on our own.
So choose the higher road!
Regardless of whether you're a part of "the people on the left or the people on the right," none of us can continue to ignore the crimes against humanity that have been at play behind the scenes.
This is not the time to turn away from the light now shining down upon our race, it is instead the time to stand for something.
To STAND TOGETHER in truth, LOVE, honor & integrity.
As everyone single one of us must stand alone in the end, ay?
A fact that I'm to remind of, so as to have you each take a step back far enough as to gain a better grasp as to the entirety of what's at play.
Have you all ever heard of a distraction tactic & have you learned to trace the roots of such things?
Because if you have, then you'll be so much better off then those who are still falling for the lies.
Lies that on the surface may seem plausible, only as long as you want to remain in denial.
So how do we then navigate the seas that lay ahead in both humility & grace, when so much darkness & sin is being illuminated?
Well, we begin by aligning ourselves with those who speak to truth & the pursuit of a better way of being, and listen for the trumpets that are guiding our way.
We look to how the others fall from Grace was based on the decisions that they'd made along the way, and look for where they could have made a better choice as to how they treated the people, places & situations they'd been put in, and how even their #PARTNERSHIPS may have led them to their own undoings.
Because for a great many of them, it was in who they surrounded themselves with that brought their houses crashing down, ay?
Don't relish in their mistakes, instead learn from them!

“The only power we have as human beings is the power of our perspective and to be able to change it. That’s a superpower everyone possesses.”
On January 1st, 2023, Actor Jeremy Renner broke 38 bones in a near-fatal snowplow accident. He was told by doctors he would likely never walk again. But his journey back to running proves you can never doubt the power of love, hope, and titanium.
Hear how Jeremy’s resilience, both mentally and physically, transformed a life-threatening event into a life-affirming source of inspiration, as he explores how adversity can propel us towards our “there” — whether it’s a new beginning, a dream, or a goal.

“The only power we have as human beings is the power of our perspective and to be able to change it. That’s a superpower everyone possesses.”
I have watched this video maybe a dozen times and each time I do so through tears.
Not just because of the powerful story of @Jeremy Renner and his resilience and determination but because the underlying power of his words and the support of a shoe company Brooks Running. The power of social media.
Brooks Running saw Jeremy's story on IG of his accident and thought maybe they had a shoe that could help. Thats it. Simple. Powerful. Kindness.
Jeremy Renner goes on to say: "Anytime people get scared, or they feel vulnerable or they may fail; whats the worst that can happen? Fail? Your failures are your allies, your superpower, your fuel. ....It is my duty to be better for myself and for everyone that has helped. me.
He ends with:
"Wherever there is for you, a new beginning, a dream, a goal.... Let's Run there"
How can a sneaker commercial move me so? What does that have to do with me?
It reminded me that taking the risk,
Walking away from financial security,
Leaning into the very thing I was running from, hiding from - the fact every system I was in was broken. That my own divergence meant I’d forever feel like an outsider.
Being afraid of failure - doing it anyway.
Is all worth it. I am proud of the leap I took. It is my duty to do whatever I can to continue to challenge broken systems and the status quo, my duty to do whatever I can to ensure as many people as possible do not have to go through what I or my kids go through to be seen, heard and valued.
It reminded me that: “The only power we have as human beings is the power of our perspective and to be able to change it. That’s a superpower everyone possesses.” 🎤
Power of our perspective and our ability to change it.
Thats it.

I was never a big movie buff. I always remember scenes, but never the movie titles, the big actors, or even the endings.
Years ago, I watched Immortals in the theatre with my buddies. I hadn't thought of the movie again until I started running. I read this very good book on coaching.
Like the movie titles, this title of the book eludes me.
From what I remember, the claim is that if two teams have the same ability, the one team which had a pep talk before the competition, this team is 80% more likely to succeed against their adversary.
This one scene came to mind when I read that. I was going to use it for my next Marathon Clinic talk at The Running Room.
Look at how Theseus steps up as the leader, calms the army down, and delivers his pep talk.
More importantly, not only does he reiterate the common goal, but transforms it to a transcended goal.
What is your transcended goal?
