🚴🏻👏 As an advocate for both environmental responsibility and personal health, I recently joined the cycling event organized by Institute of Business Management’s Sustainable Living Society. Participating in this event showcased the numerous benefits of cycling, which are increasingly relevant to the corporate world: Improved Well-being: Regular cycling demonstrably enhances focus, productivity, and overall well-being, contributing to a positive work environment. Decide to try. 🏃♀️ I have been an ultra-marathon runner for nearly 7 years  and have noticed so many parallels to working in sustainability, both require endurance, determination, perseverance and a little bit of crazy. Last weekend, ahead of the Hardrock 100, an iconic 100-mile race in the San Juan mountains of Colorado, Courtney Dauwalter, the best female ultra runner in the world, used the phrase ‘Decide to Try’ when asked about how she continues to do so well in so many races and how others can get into it. You won’t know what you can do until you Decide to try. I didn’t start ultra running with a 100-mile race; I started with a 10K and only ran my first marathon 10 years ago. I didn’t think I could even do those shorter distances until I first decided to try those smaller, more achievable goals.  When I am asked about why I run that far, my response is ‘to see if I can’ – because I am deciding to try. It sounds so simple and is yet the most applicable phrase to working in sustainability that I have heard in a long time. Decide to try. Decide to try is what we need in sustainability right now. It doesn’t matter where we fit in the supply chain, we can all decide to try something. 💡 Decide to try to talk with a colleague or customer about sustainability. 💡Decide to try a new product or practice that supports sustainability. 💡Decide to try to make one change in your day-to-day work for a more sustainable outcome. As climate change reshapes our world, 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 face unprecedented obstacles. The traditional rhythms of skiing, snowboarding and more are being disrupted by rising temperatures and erratic snowfall. 🌨️❄️ Yet amid these challenges lies an opportunity for the sports industry to lead the charge towards 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.   𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗺𝗮. Although crucial for ensuring consistent snow cover, this is often accompanied by significant energy consumption and environmental impacts. Ski resorts pursuing sustainability certifications, such as the Sustainable Slopes program, are commendable. However, achieving true sustainability requires holistic solutions.   Imagine ski resorts investing in renewable energy infrastructure and implementing waste reduction initiatives to minimize their environmental footprint. By adopting sustainability, we not only mitigate the impacts of our activities, but also ensure their resilience.   While skepticism about the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives is well-founded, it is essential to recognize the progress being made and the potential for real change. By engaging in 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 with environmental organizations and holding ourselves accountable, we can work towards more effective solutions.   Let’s continue to champion sustainability in winter sports and aspire to significant progress. 🏂🌱 #WinterSports #Sustainability #ClimateAction #InnovationSport #TheFrenchyUmpire

Arrange drop in sessions to meet leadership. 2 - Locate cycling storage areas in visible locations which are clean and attractive. 🚴♂️✨ Just crossed the finish line at the London to Brighton Bike Ride, and what a journey it was! Here's a little reflection on the ride and the lessons reinforced along the way. I set a challenging goal for this ride: no stops at checkpoints and finishing in under four hours. Achieving this wasn't just about physical endurance but mental tenacity. I completed the ride non-stop, but it took 6 minutes more than my target. Despite this, I am proud that I gave it my all and achieved something I thought was beyond my reach. This experience was a powerful reminder that setting ambitious goals and pushing our boundaries, even when the peak seems unreachable, is crucial for growth and achievement. It's about the journey as much as the destination. For those who do a lot of cycling, the 54-mile ride might be a little, but after not cycling for five years, it was challenging because, after 44 miles, we had to climb the Ditchling Beacon. With every pedal stroke, the importance of never giving up was evident during the ascent. It was tough, but knowing my limits and managing my energy ensured I saved enough strength for that final climb. There was a moment of pure determination, knowing each small effort was a step closer to the summit. This experience taught me the power of perseverance and the rewards it brings. To everyone facing their own Ditchling Beacon—whatever it may be—remember, the view from the top is worth the climb. Never give up, know your limits, manage your energy, and keep setting challenging goals.
