It is time to embark on a journey of 'Systemic Change' - Ending the homelessness misery, poor outcomes and reduced quality of life will require a systemic shift! It is interesting to read about Prince Williams view point and steer on one of the major challenges for the UK economy and local councils being Homelessness. It would be interesting to see from central government - what is the 'Whole System Plan' and solutions to tackle homelessness? Collective responsibility and collective action is required at all levels from central government, to system partners, to communities and at grass root level.

Mission Australia has joined others in calling for a National Housing and Homelessness Plan to be legislated to #endhomelessness in Australia. We are deeply disappointed by the Senate Committee’s majority report against the Bill, missing a key chance to ensure government accountability for addressing Australia’s housing and homelessness emergency and supporting people who are vulnerable. The Government must act now with a legislated National Housing and Homelessness Plan that delivers: 🏠 1 million new social and affordable homes in the next 20 years to meet future demand. 💡 A $500 million Homelessness Prevention Transformation Fund to stop people becoming homeless in the first place. To end homelessness in Australia, the Plan should be legislated, include adequate funding, clear goals and strong accountability. #EndHomelessness #BuildMoreSocialHousing #RaiseTheRate #Budget2025 #Auspol Read more in Mission Australia’s submission: https://lnkd.in/gjCwYYnZ

"Every person deserves a place to call home, a sanctuary where they can find peace, comfort, and security. But for many individuals who are homeless or living in supported accommodation, that basic necessity is a distant dream, overshadowed by the harsh realities of poverty, trauma, and societal neglect. In the face of such adversity, it is easy to turn a blind eye, to convince ourselves that the problem is too big, too complex, too overwhelming to tackle. But the truth is, every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to make a difference. Whether it's donating a hot meal, offering a warm smile, or simply taking the time to listen, each gesture of compassion and support can help restore hope and dignity to those who have been marginalized and forgotten. We must remember that homelessness is not a personal failure, but a systemic issue that requires collective action and solidarity. By coming together as a community, we can create a safety net for those who are struggling, providing them with the resources, opportunities, and support they need to rebuild their lives and thrive. So let us be the advocates for change, the champions of compassion, the voices of empathy in a world that too often turns a blind eye to the suffering of others. Let us stand up for those who have been silenced, reach out to those who have been left behind, and work tirelessly to ensure that everyone has access to the basic human right of a safe and stable place to call home. Together, we can build a society that values and uplifts every individual, regardless of their circumstances. Together, we can create a future where homelessness is not a reality, but a distant memory of a time when we came together to make a difference. Let us not wait for change to happen, but be the change we wish to see in the world. Together, we can make a difference, one act of kindness at a time."

🎥 When we create space for connection, amazing things happen. Last week, our son Jordan showed me the power of community in action. For Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (Nov 17-23), he decided to take the lead on a project close to his heart: creating care packages for our unhoused neighbors in Middle Tennessee. 💛 We had an honest conversation about the challenges—times are tight for many, including our family. But rather than feeling discouraged, Jordan asked, “What can I do to make this happen?” With that spark of determination, he recorded a video to rally our community, inviting them to help make his vision a reality. The response was incredible: ✅ Over $230 in donations ✅ Supplies for 42 care packages ✅ Friends and neighbors from across the area contributing their time, resources, and encouragement Together, we assembled care packages filled with essentials, love, and handwritten notes on November 23rd. Last week, these were delivered to Murfreesboro Cold Patrol, a local organization providing direct support to those in need. This experience was about more than just care packages. It was about: 🌟 Fostering leadership in our youth: When we empower young people to take ownership of projects, they learn to lead with compassion and confidence. 🌟 Building community: By bringing people together for a shared purpose, we strengthen the bonds that make meaningful change possible. 🌟 Cultivating gratitude and action: It's not just about what we have, but how we use it to uplift others. As a parent and a community builder, this project was a reminder that creating opportunities for connection and contribution is one of the greatest investments we can make. If you’re passionate about nurturing the next generation of leaders or want to build stronger communities, let’s connect. There’s so much we can do together to create spaces where good energy thrives. 💡 Check out the full event recap here: https://lnkd.in/efkSm-6N #CommunityBuilding #YouthLeadership #GratitudeInAction #GrowthMindset

Yesterday the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in the case of City of Grants Pass, Oregon v. Gloria Johnson. The case aims to determine whether local governments can make it a crime for someone to live outside and unsheltered if they have no home. As this hotly contested case makes clear, the problem of homelessness is getting worse. Every year, more and more Americans experience homelessness—and cities and communities increasingly struggle to bring the crisis under control. What can we do? That’s a complicated question. But at SVDP, we believe the first (and best) solution is homelessness prevention: directing life-saving resources to people on the brink of homelessness. Today, the whole world celebrates the International Day for Street Children, the purpose of which is to draw attention to one of the most painful problems of our time — child homelessness and the violation of children's elementary rights. Unfortunately, this problem is also acute in #Ukraine because its scale has increased significantly since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. If there were up to 200,000 homeless children in our country by February 24, 2022, now this figure has probably increased many times. Violent hostilities, the destruction of homes, the death of parents, and the breakup of families — all this pushes minors to the streets in search of at least some salvation. We at Save Ukraine Rescue Network especially understand the criticality of this situation because we rescue injured children every day, evacuate families from front-line areas, conduct rescue missions to free children from the #Russian occupation, and help children recover physically and mentally from what they experienced. And we know from our own experience how dangerous the problem of child homelessness is for the country and the world. Therefore, today, we call on the entire world community not to stand aside from this humanitarian problem. Children who lose their parents and homes need not only food, clothing, hygiene products, and medical care. The most important thing for them is care and love, which they lack. Only by joint efforts will we be able to help every homeless child get back to regular life and realize their potential. And the least we can do today is a small donation to save children. This #GivingTuesday, it's crucial to acknowledge that the issue of homelessness persists, and our current approach is not working. Please consider supporting The Man/Kind Initiative with a tax-deductible donation to prevent individuals from experiencing homelessness.
