It's not surprising that the NFL--BY FAR the most competitively balanced league in professional sports--is the most valuable on a per-team basis. But to also have 30 of the top 50 most valuable franchises worldwide? Wild. Whether we like it or not, the parity trend we're seeing (F1 car redesigns, CFB realignment, push for European Super League, etc.) is only just beginning. Too much value on left on the table otherwise. https://lnkd.in/gZsxMirQ

"Sports as an asset class" is ever evolving. While this is a relatively small bet (compared to previous purchase of Washington Commanders at $6B!), I love the themes Harris and Team are tapping into: 1. Partnering with THE face of the sport. Bringing in the GOAT Shaun White brings immediate exposure, credibility, and identity to the venture. 2. Speaking of awareness... As action sports professionalization--and importantly, awareness of the athlete process--increases, young aspiring professionals have a far better idea of what it takes to "make it" as a professional. And with the track record, alumni base, and now amplification? Kids and parents willing to go all-in will know where to go. https://lnkd.in/gSqMrSjy

Story we probably don't see in the States everyday re private equity investment in sports... This is the third attempt the league has made to bring in PE dollars, the first two thwarted by fan opposition. Don't want to "overly commercialize" the game. On the one hand, I get it. Fans don't root for balance sheets. But at the same time, aren't you worried about getting left behind in the global futbol arms-race? So, win or (literally) sell out? I'm definitely not a Raiders fan, but an ex-owner's favorite saying comes to mind here... IYKYK. https://lnkd.in/gDQRRX2H

Linkedin Friends! I'm looking for a good data analysis / statistics primer. Am out of practice and desperately need to study up. Any suggestions? PS: don't tell my professors at The LBJ School of Public Affairs I wouldn't want to disappoint them with how much of I've forgotten 😬

Love this take! #3 especially. All great teams share an identity. Deion's ability to instill this identity is elite.

Your leader may be the reason you have a culture problem. It’s only one game in the college football season, but the University of Colorado football team had a losing record of 1-11 last season and today just upset the #17 ranked TCU team to kick off the year! How do you turn a losing culture into a winning one? Start with the Leader! Deion Sanders AKA "Coach Prime" was hired this winter and is only a few months into the job as head coach but his influence and presence has immediately turned the program around. What did he do? — 5 observations 1 - Set the vision for the team. Where there is no vision people will fail. 2 - Built a core leadership team by surrounding himself with successful coaches and identifying players who model the right values & behaviors. 3- Instilled confidence in the team collectively and individually by creating visual monikers, slogans, and giving personal time attention to players. 4 - Identified opportunities to strengthen each player and position on the roster to improve the overall team. Practice makes permanent. 5 - Inspired, motivated, and hyped his team through his words in presentations and speeches. He made it all about them: He believed in them, he corrected them and he praised them. #leadership #employeeengagement #culture #coaching #football
