Yet another BrainStation Hackathon complete! This time we were approached by representatives from Telus to create a website, within 24 hours, that reflected the following challenge statement: "How might we help users create a TV package that has all their preferred channels". Our solution was to improve the existing Telus website in 3 ways (without needing a full overhaul): 1) Allow users to select the cable theme-packs and streaming services they want first and then add up the cost of the final total, rather than selecting X number of theme-packs and then selecting the theme packs. 2) Give users the freedom to swap out one channel from any given theme-pack in exchange for another channel that is not in the theme-pack. This gives users much more freedom to create their custom packages while still bundling channels together in theme-packs. 3) Create a more intuitive layout inspired by current streaming services where the contents of each themepack is displayed as a row, with larger images to create a bigger impact. Show off the most exciting content of themepacks with as few clicks as possible (goodbye clicking back and forth through modals).
