To those who have followed my work closely in recent years, you'll know that I've dedicated a significant portion of my time to developing Machine Learning (#ML) and Artificial Intelligence (#AI) models, primarily focused on the aerospace and health sectors.
I'm thrilled to share that one of my latest projects involved creating an ML model that powers an AI Agent designed to predict birdstrike at airports. This model was trained using nearly 300 000 birdstrike events in the US, data provided by the Federal Aviation Administration. It was tested at LaGuardia Airport, where it achieved an impressive 91% accuracy in detection. This have taken into consideration the time of the year, time of the day, atmospheric conditions, geography, flight phase, and sky conditions.
This project was undertaken with the assistance of students from the Introduction to Aeronautical and Space Sciences course at ISEC - Instituto Superior de Educação e Ciências.
