What Do You Do When a Door Closes?: Embracing Opportunities Beyond Closed Doors ✨🚪 Imagine standing in a room with 10 doors. Behind each door is an opportunity. Let’s say you start on the right side, try the first door, and it won’t budge. You have two options: keep trying or move on to another door. Personally, I’m stubborn, so even if that first door had 15 locks, I’d persist, forgetting that there were still 9 other doors I could try to open. After exhausting all efforts, doubts creep in: maybe I’m not strong enough, determined enough, or worse, maybe I forgot how to open doors. But there are still 9 other doors to try. In this season of life, I’ve learned that sometimes, a door simply isn’t yours. And that’s okay. It’s totally human to grieve that loss. Today, I encourage you to, instead of doubting yourself, see it as a nudge toward a different path you might not have considered. You are smart enough, you are determined enough, and you definitely know how to open doors, lol. Remember, when one door closes, it’s leading you to the right one, the door just for you. Honor those feelings of frustration and disappointment, and then when you’re ready embrace the journey. Your door is waiting, and when you find it, you’ll open it effortlessly. Don’t give up; keep exploring.

In life, we sometimes come across closed doors that seem impossible to open. But not all closed doors are meant for us to open through knocking. Instead of feeling discouraged, we should understand that closed doors can redirect us towards better paths. By this mindset, we can find opportunities, build resilience, gain wisdom, focus our efforts, and trust in the process, knowing that the right doors will open for us in due time.

"When one door closes, another one opens?" In our professional journeys, we often hear the comforting phrase, "when one door closes, another one opens." While this is an encouraging thought, it's crucial to remember that doors don't open by themselves. We have to put in the effort, turn the knob, and push them open. Life presents us with countless doors – opportunities that await our initiative and determination. If one opportunity doesn't work out, it doesn't mean the end of our journey. Instead, it challenges us to seek out and actively pursue the next one.Just as in our careers, where we must continuously learn, adapt, and strive, the act of opening doors requires action. It's about being proactive, resilient, and never giving up on finding the next opportunity that aligns with our goals. So, let's remember to not just wait for doors to open but to take action, turn the knob, and push forward. The opportunities are out there, but it's up to us to open the doors. #CareerGrowth #OpportunityKnocks #ProactiveMindset #Resilience

🔑 When one door closes, another one opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us. – Alexander Graham Bell Life often throws unexpected challenges our way, and it's easy to get caught up in the disappointment of a door closing. Whether it's a job loss, a missed opportunity, or a setback, it can feel like the end of the road. But in these moments, it's crucial to remember Bell's wisdom. A closed door isn't the end; it's an invitation to look around and find the new opportunities waiting for us. Every end is a new beginning, and every challenge brings with it the seed of growth and transformation. To all my connections facing uncertainties or transitions, take heart. There is another door opening for you. Stay positive, stay proactive, and keep your eyes open for the new opportunities that are just around the corner. #Opportunity #Growth #PositiveMindset #Resilience #CareerJourney

I had a great time chatting with Jon Wolheim from Games For Love. Meeting him and chatting with him is one of the many gifts I received this Christmas from the gaming community. Thank you 🙏 I learned a lot about what I can apply in my journey of breaking into the gaming industry. This is a post written in the spur of the moment. With 4 takeaways for you if you're looking for a job in the gaming industry: 𝟭. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 Is getting into gaming more of a romantic thought? Are you looking to break into gaming from another industry? Are you looking to bounce back from a layoff? 𝟮. 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹 What 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 are you pursuing? What role would bring you 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲? And what are the 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘀 of it? More creative freedom? Working for a big corporation? Etc. etc. 𝟯. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 Connect with those who have that role. Ask them specifics. So you don't waste your time. And theirs. Understand what's different from your expectations. And the reality of that job. 𝟰. 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 It's a 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲. 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁 with smart people in your niche. 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 interesting conversations. 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 yourself to be noticed. That's it. Go out there. Use these takeaways. And land yourself the gaming job you deserve 🙏

Feeling lost in the job market? You’re not the only one. Recently I found myself looking into fields I had zero interest in – analytics, graphic design, coding – all these technical areas that just don’t resonate with me. I was chasing the wrong path, all to find myself back at square one. There had to be a better answer. And that’s when I came across this idiom that perfectly described the way I was feeling - ‘A square peg in a round hole’ When I read it, everything clicked. I was trying to force myself into roles that didn't align with my true strengths and passions. Reflecting on this, I realized that while it’s true that I’m not very technical, I do excel in fields involving creativity and have a genuine love for working with people. It would make much more sense to find a career that fits these strengths instead of trying to conform to the market’s demands. The conclusion I came to? Stop trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, instead, find your square hole. Figure out what you’re good at, embrace what makes you unique, and look for opportunities that align with your values and interests. The right position may not immediately make itself apparent to you, but it will save you the years of internal conflict that will stem from fighting and supressing your true interests.
