Yesterday I was fortunate to be asked to do the #keynote talk for World Textile Information Network (WTiN). Aside from the small issue of thinking it was a panel until a few hours before hand! I pulled something together, which hopefully was informative! What I really wanted to press home was that before looking into what existing materials to use, we need to understand where a business sits. Because nothing ticks all boxes. If we want to be ethical (fair and transparent supply chain) and sustainable (not taking more than we need or doing excess harm) there’s #hemp. If you want to sit between sustainable and circular (ensuring something can have another life of equal value) that’s where synthetics sit. If you sit between circular and regenerative (giving back more than you take) it’s wool. If you sit between #regenerative and #ethical it’s organic cotton and bio based. I will be working on some video form pieces to expand on the conversation yesterday. So make sure you hit the 🛎️ on the top of you want to see that. #sustainableclothing #sustainablesourcing #ethicalfashion

This is true for now! Hope to help add to the conversation over the coming years! Urgency fuels acceleration — with the right team, and partners harmonious solutions can rise to the top! Congrats Samatha! Also, great job turning a panel into a keynote :)
I found this breakdown super helpful and informative. Easy to read and remember!
This is such a great summary!
Thanks. Great info
Interesting!

1yHi Samantha! It's challenging for me to consider synthetics derived from fossil fuels as sustainable. There are, however, alternative types of synthetics derived from biomaterials that are biodegradable. Was that what you meant?
