My "management Monday's" seem to resonate with people the most because I'm typically talking about a cringy management moment that is more relatable than I realized. However, I want to clarify something for the bosses that are on my resume who WEREN'T providing these cringy moments. I have only left ONE job because management was unbearable. Every other time has been because the company just wasn't the right fit for my life personally anymore. So to highlight some of those positive experiences: 👉🏼 Robert F. Firely, CPA, CGMA hired me when I was 5 months pregnant without batting an eye & has remained a mentor figure to me for the past decade. While he is retired from Herbein, I know current management learned from his example. 👉🏼 Michael Stephano hired me not once but twice. He even trusted me to be an early adopter of hybrid work, well before the pandemic. I can vividly remember the most impactful advice Mike gave me one day saying "always make sure you hire people smarter than you" and from that day on I did just that. 👉🏼 Samantha Bolosan introduced me to life outside of public accounting firms, women-owned, and creating a lifestyle based around being a mom. I learned SO much in the months I was with her & I don't know if I would have had the guts to start my own firm if I hadn't spent my time at POMteam. So while I have been quite a few places over my career, they have all made an impact on where I am today, and I am grateful for that! 9moI worked as a project manager for a cleaning/flood and restoration company before I started school. Though very hard work it taught me critical lessons. My direct manager there never allowed me to call him about a problem without having tried to fix it myself or coming up with a plan and calling just to ask for approval. The first few months of this were brutal, but then it all started to click. Since then I have become incredibly resourceful. I seek answers and solutions before ever reaching out to management. Great managers learn how to get the monkey off their backs. They teach their team members to find solutions themselves.
