To truly advance #healthequity, we already know that involvement across the healthcare spectrum is required, and that it involves both public and private stakeholders. On the public side of that equation is the National Governors Association, which recently reported on "innovative approaches and communication strategies states and territories are using to address health equity needs." As their report says, "[The] National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) explored ways states and territories are addressing and communicating about health equity." The results of their virtual workshop, in-person roundtable, and other efforts provides an interesting view of what some specific states are doing to address health disparities within their borders. New study in #HSR from Stephanie Bultema MAAL, PhD et al explore how Accountable Communities of/for Health (ACHs), a type of health-focused multisector collaborative, are developing strategies to address health equity with diverse partners. WHAT IS KNOWN Accountable Communities of/for Health (ACHs) are formal, community-based partnerships that bring together cross-sector organizations, community members, and tribal representatives to transform community health systems in pursuit of improved population health and well-being. WHAT THIS STUDY ADDS ACHs are devoting resources to support building equity into how organizations collaborate across public and private domains in communities. CONCLUSION This study identifies strategies for advancing health equity in multisector collaboratives. ACHs in Washington and California are devoting resources to ensure health equity is central to their work. The numerous approaches ACHs use to advance health equity are important to ensure everyone can reach their full health potential. While current literature argues that multisector health initiatives are integral for advancing health equity, there is a lack of research on how these initiatives advance equity in practice. Thus, this paper provides generalizable strategies that can be further investigated to optimize progress toward health equity. A recent report by the The Commonwealth Fund reveals that even in states where health systems are ranked as high-performing, deep racial disparities still exist. The report evaluates data both within and between U.S. states on health outcomes, access to health care, and quality of health care services to produce a health system performance “score” for each of the five racial and ethnic groups evaluated in every state. By highlighting the deep health disparities along racial lines, this report can serve as a tool to make profound advancements toward health equity nationwide. https://lnkd.in/e4RjHh_H

The PHC primer (https://lnkd.in/gidGN8h9) published jointly by WHO HQ and Europe office will greatly assist the UNICEF-WHO SDG3 / PHC acceleration efforts in countries. Following the joint UNICEF-WHO Astana declaration 2018, UNICEF and WHO jointly authored and published the PHC Operational framework and the PHC measurement framework and indicators, this primer published jointly by the WHO HQrs & Europe offices with inputs from UNICEF in many chapters is a great addition to the tools and that National health managers will have to strengthen #PHC for #UHC and #SDG3 and avert future breakdowns in service during outbreaks, epidemics and avert pandemics.
