A SHORT STORY I stare down and hard at the answer booklet on my hands. My heartbeat seem to be in rhythm with the ceiling fan slowly whirling above my head. I may be a little tensed as I slid out of my chair and walk down the aisle between rows of seats down the hall, oblivious to my classmates, towards the front podium, but I didn't show it. 'This is it' I muttered under my breath. I counted my pace as I walked out if the hall. Everywhere I turned were excited graduates in groups of twos, threes or more cheering and chatting, signing on the white shirt of a fellow mate. It is a tradition. You signed on mine, I do the same on yours. A young man next to me swore he would not as much as read a billboard ever again. Really? The boots on my feet felt heavy but I had to go join in the 'fun' There were still spaces on my white shirt that needed those different shades of markers. But that was not what was going on in my head. As I stood there, I began to gather my emotions. I had just written my last exam. I had just made a milestone but instead of excitement, I felt indifferent. I replay questions over and over in my mind, repeating the words like a mantra. It is the same question everyone around me was sure going to ponder about after the excitement is all gone. Give them two days. Not sure I was going to get an answer immediately but again WHAT NEXT? I was reading through my journal and saw this☝️ Anyways the answer to the question, I'm slowly and deliberately discovering it. I'm no more the confused fresh graduate. I have acquired skill, taken bold steps, met and built connection with awesome people. I'm no longer lost. Tell me. ~ From Textbooks to Deadlines ~ Four years. Countless pages turned, endless cups of teas consumed and all emotions. A place where I grew, learned and evolved. It's the place where I made lifelong friends, met mentors and created memories that I'll cherish forever. But as I stand at this bittersweet crossroads, I wonder: What is my true purpose here? I gave time, energy and sometimes tears. But what impact do I leave on my institution, do they prepare me for the "real world"? Is the backpack I carry filled with just happy memories? College life for me came with its both of struggles and heartbreaks. Are these experiences, tool to navigate through my future journeys? How do I bridge the gap from late nights in the labs to early mornings in the office? Is the transition from campus life to the corporate world for me is as daunting as it seems? All these revolving around in my mind, I guess I've been a student, as a friend I've been there for them in their highs and lows, as a technical trainer I've shared my knowledge with my juniors and as an event organizer I've tried to create memorable experiences for my peers, I've also experienced some highs and too many lows. But I can't help but feel that there's more to give and still more to do. Now it's time to step into real race as a professional. While there might be struggles ahead but i put my knowledge to the test and learn from the experienced and contribute wherever and whenever possible. The question remains, will things be completely different from now on? Maybe not. I'm confident I can handle whatever comes my way while challenges undoubtedly lie ahead. As a thought to the readers may be i'm not yet a advisor or a noble grown man to advise but I guess observing people, pondering everyday, growing circle, sharing knowledge, making memories, breaking emotions, questioning everything around and listening to music made me what I'm today. Their task was to immerse themselves in our company and identify impactful project ideas. I do want to share with you what I learned about the Summer Assignment approach. 𝗠𝘆 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: • 𝘝𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯 𝘖𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘝𝘪𝘦𝘸: Fresh perspectives from young employees can challenge and refine your thinking. • 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘍𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬: New team members can highlight existing issues and offer surprising insights - without them knowing the issue from you. Somewhat validating what you are already working on. • 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘴: Guide without steering content; focus on actionable next steps. • 𝘊𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: Facilitate easy access for the team to those who will benefit from the idea. • 𝘊𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘘𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴: Identify blind spots and potential deal-breakers early on. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: • 𝘌𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: Crafting a concise TLDR about your idea not only informs but also clarifies your own understanding. • 𝘌𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘊𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭: Always back up ideas with solid proof. May be a study and actual research you did yourself! 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: • 𝘕𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴: They started in deep waters, but guidance simplified their journey. • 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘱: A strong foundation boosts the start of any assignment. Kudos to our students for their hard work and creativity! 🎉

Excited to reflect on my first semester learnings! 📚 Grateful for the challenges that pushed me to grow, the new perspectives gained, and the skills honed. 1. Adaptability is Key: Embracing change and adapting quickly proved essential. Whether it was adjusting to new study methods or unexpected challenges, flexibility became a valuable skill. 2. Time Management Matters: Balancing coursework, projects, assignments and personal life reinforced the importance of effective time management. Prioritizing tasks , beating procrastination (my biggest challenge!!)and staying organized kept me on track. 3. Collaboration Enhances Learning: Active participation in college activities,interviews of college communities ,volunteering in events like rise 2.0 and being a part of JECRC Incubation Centre gave me learning from diverse perspectives not only enriched my understanding but also improved teamwork skills. 4. Resilience Builds Character: Overcoming setbacks like procrastination and academic hurdles highlighted the resilience within me. Each challenge provided an opportunity to learn, grow, and develop a stronger mindset. 5. Networking is a Skill: My theory of "The more people you know, the more you grow" helped me in building connections with professors and peers opened doors to valuable resources and support. Networking isn't just about quantity; quality relationships can make a significant impact on both personal and professional development. In my academic journey, I've recognized the significance of surrounding oneself with individuals who contribute not only to enjoyable moments but also to personal growth. I am fortunate to have shared this path with Veshnavi Sahu, a person whose presence has been instrumental in fostering both camaraderie and personal development. 6. Self-Care is Non-Negotiable: Balancing academics and well-being is crucial. Taking breaks, practicing self-care, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance contributed to my overall success.Taking time for learning self development methods like EFT-tapping , Journaling etc and reading self help books helped me on my journey to become my best version! It's about having the courage to go the extra mile, to push past obstacles, and to contribute in truly meaningful ways. Together with Niranjana Arullappan, we tried to have an embodiment of this ethos through an accomplishment – the creation of Career Week 2023 at Sunway International School KL. We curated a series of transformative learning experiences for students from kindergarten to high school, a four day event with many activities. We navigated the challenges of late nights, weekend research marathons, negotiations with stakeholders, and the sheer determination to see our vision through. We hope our story is a testament to the power of teamwork, resilience, and a willingness to think outside the box. We didn't let the obstacles deter us; instead, we worked to bring this vision to life, hoping to touch the lives of young minds in the process. This is the essence of standing out – it's not about seeking the limelight or conforming to societal expectations. It's about finding your own unique path, unleashing your inner strength, and using your talents to make a difference. And in doing so, you have set an inspiring example for others to follow.
