Co-founder & CEO at Oshi Health (life-changing digestive/GI care)

We continue to present data of the impact of the Oshi Health #digestivehealth care model in helping our members finally gain lasting symptom control and what that then yields in terms of reductions in avoidable healthcare utilization. This time we shared our ability to reduce #emergencydepartment visits. At the end of the day this boils down to a pretty simple concept. #accountability and #accountablecare. A care model that is built from the ground up to be accountable to our members to help them feel sustainably better and to our healthcare purchaser customers to avoid costly healthcare utilization and save them money. We're proud of our outcomes and can't wait to share more of our research in the coming year. And to keep pushing the industry toward aligning reimbursement with accountability and value. #valuebasedcare #healthoutcomes

#gastrointestinal complaints are the leading cause of treat-and-release emergency department visits, reflecting significant patient distress that does not require hospitalization -- and highlighting a significant opportunity to control avoidable costs. Patients enrolled in #OshiHealth virtual multidisciplinary GI care showed reduced emergency department (ED) utilization, according to research findings presented at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting earlier this month. A prospective study conducted in partnership with a national health plan in a commercially insured population evaluated the impact of Oshi Health’s multidisciplinary telehealth program found: 🔹 At 3 months, only 5% of enrolled patients had a GI-related ED visit, compared to 17% of non-enrolled patients (a 72% improvement, p<0.0001) 🔹 At 6 months, only 8% of enrolled patients had a GI-related ED visit, compared to 21% of non-enrolled patients (a 64% improvement, p<0.0001) Complementary to the research presented at #apha2023, two additional studies were presented in October on patient outcomes (presented at #acg2023), and the impact of Oshi’s model on physician burnout (presented at #acph2023).
