On March 17, 1966, the Bell X-22, a revolutionary American V/STOL (Vertical/Short Takeoff and Landing) aircraft, took to the skies for the first time. This unique X-plane boasted four tilting ducted fans, offering incredible versatility during takeoff. The X-22 could either lift straight up like a helicopter with the fans pointed vertically, or take off from a short runway with the nacelles (engine housings containing the fans) tilted forward at a steep angle, around 45 degrees. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry
