Managing Director at J-Flex Rubber Products ▪️ rubber sheetings & components for technology-driven manufacturing.
🌟 Back to work (after a week at the beach!) 🌟 As the owner of a SME, the propsect of taking time off and "letting go" can be a daunting one - in fact, I remember many of my childhood holidays were planned around Dad visiting a customer or supplier (not a moan, I loved the adventure of visiting unconventional holiday destinations!) However, when we underwent our succession process, Dad encouraged me to do it my way and not miss out on life's precious moments. So at the start of this year we set out to implement the many amazing #EOS tools at J-Flex Rubber Products. As Traction aficionados will know, having the "right people in the right seats" is an essential part of the process, and having a Senior Leadership Team that "buys in" and is committed to the implementation of EOS is a must. Althought it's early days, the initial signs are encouraging. The team have: 📈 Quaterly rocks - specific, measurable, achieveable, realistic & timebound 🤝 Weekly Level-10 meetings 🙌 Celebrated successes 💡 Adopted a continuous improvement mindset (and are not afraid to challenge or feedback) For the first time since I started at J-Flex, I've managed a week away without my phone ringing and without a mountain of e-mails that need actioning, all because of an incredibly talented group of people: 👏 Chris Barnes, Chris Briscoe, Les Shaw, Mark Awcock, Rachel Chapman + those who aren't on LinkedIn 👏 So with Dad's words ringing in my ears, I've tried to do it my way and not miss out on life's precious moments, like errr, this...
Great post Sam - family time is precious.
So important to take the time off and remember your WHY ! Also great to see J- Flex thriving ☺️ hope all is well with you .
Love this Sam, you've clearly got this sussed with the support of a great team and family!
I love this Sam. Doing it your way, and succeeding!
Great post, Sam. I remember heading to Kenya on a family holiday a few years ago when a not very senior customer decided he was going to start a campaign of abusive against some of my colleagues…every day of that holiday I was on email and talking to the team. It had an impact. In the latter years I worked with such a great team that holidays became much more normal. Great that you’ve got to a similar place.
Fantastic Sam. I was blown away when I first read #Traction many moons ago. So simple, but so effective. I use many of the principles now with my Business Owners clients, along with The Rockefeller Habits from Verne Harnish - all based on similar principles. Plus a good mix of all my own lessons-learned too.
Good to hear Sam Kirk. Great leadership starts by surrounding yourself with great people!

6moHaving the right people in the right seats is so important Sam Kirk We've recently recruited a couple of new team members so hoping they will allow me to step back on some of the more operational tasks and get back to running Future Cloud and a new venture too, and who knows holidays without business in the mix in the future 😃
