Back in 2003 or so ...
I was in Bombay ... and also that I was thinking about a change in the job ... not yet desperately, but the idea was there in my mind.
My own industry - B2B e-commerce was in doldrums ... lots of players in burial grounds ...lots of players looking at closing down.
Got in touch with one dotcom entrepreneur founder - already running a #ModellingAgency ... but with blend of Internet touch ... some degree of e-enabled processes.
He and his partners were looking for a CEO. We had multiple rounds of meetings ... dinners together ... to know and understand things better, and to know where each of us come from ... what asset and liability I bring to the table...etc. etc.
My late wife, & young son then ... Sonu - not even 3-4 years old, was in Calcutta. I was staying alone in a company provided furnished flat ... of 3BHK ... just around Gokuldham.
For some reasons ... I was not comfortable. I was, sort of, in a short term deputation, from Kolkata to Bombay.
Now, coming back to that modeling agency ... I had to visit their office couple of times ... & had to wait.
It was not a very professional, or as usual office environment that I had been familiar until then - but a rather, overcrowded place - always packed with too many young, glamorous, beautiful, sexy from appearances ... aspirant-models, mostly females.
As seen ... in these #ItemNumbers ...
They would inquire about their audition... or even portfolio/profile preparation.
I see advices like following now ... No... things were much different then:
'I started my modeling career by following these steps.
1. Visit audition websites and keep a tab on all the upcoming events.
2. Keep yourself fit and healthy.
3. Get a portfolio from a professional fashion photographer, and also keep your instagram, facebook and snapchat profile updated with latest pictures.
4. Send your stylish pictures from your portfolio or instagram to various fashion brands and modeling agencies.
5.groom yourself like a model i.e. how to walk like a model, how to pose like a model, how to introduce yourself .
6. Join facebook and whatsapp groups of fashion bloggers and event
7. keep taking part in auditons of different fashion show or modeling competition.
8. Connect to professional models, fashion designers and photographers through social media."
From one male model ... Vivek Mauriya ... as thrown by #AI ... that too six years ago.
Beautiful girls...:Smart handsome boys ...crowded in a 500sq.ft room ... 25 or more of them ...
All exchanging #APeckInTheCheek freely ... in their best jovial moods ...
And myself wondering ... "Am I not a cultural misfit here?" all the time... to ...'Would my wife approve'?
And while having dinner with the promoter-founder, who looked humble, well-educated, decent ... he would often ask ...
"What valuation, do you think you would, ... or Rakesh Jhunjhunwala would give, to this place?"
I knew they work together with RJ's informal, formal network

Do you think the air is a lil more chirpier today with #Diljit appearing on The Late Night show with #JimmyFallon. Why is this creating so much noise compared to previous Indian artists who’ve been on the show?
We have been discussing this at Pegboard brainstorms today a little extra!
When subculture gets mainstream energy! When it rules that stage!
Subculture sounds like a jargon, but trust me it’s really not!
The rise of subcultures in India has marked a profound shift towards authentic storytelling and artistic expression. From energetic Marathi music to emotive Malayalam cinema, aren’t we all finding resonance in narratives that reflect our unique backgrounds.
This cultural evolution isn’t about replacing mainstream influences but enriching them with distinct flavours.
If you are in any creative field or marketing, here’s why subculture is relevant and will stay relevant for time to come!

For us, it’s more than just about designing—it’s about storytelling through culture and creativity.
As a firm with expertise in creating regionally and culturally grounded campaigns, The Art Brew specializes in bridging local traditions with global sensibilities. We understand the value of cultural authenticity in an increasingly interconnected world, and our designs are crafted to appeal to diverse audiences, blending regional identities with universal appeal. What if the objective of events were to not only entertain and enthral, but also to exist with a lighter footprint on the planet?
Event organisers and artists have the power to set objectives to reduce their environmental impact, because right now, those objectives are pretty rare.
RAD Agency wants to change that! And if you think big events can't be successful and sustainably minded, just look at what Coldplay have done!
Talk to us about how we can help you set social and environmental objectives for your next event ✨

Over 50k people attended the Ed Sheeran concert last Saturday in Mumbai making it his largest international concert till date.It was insanely electrifying !⚡️
It was also an opportunity lost!!
Large hydration booths organised at the venue had 250 ml plastic bottles by the crate - lakhs of them. (People were even carrying crates home at end of the evening.🙄)
Think about this:
50k people there for an average 5 hours
Even if each person drinks even 3 bottles that’s 1.5lakh bottles of which less than 10% would get recycled. ( because that’s the average global statistic)
Rest gets added to our overflowing city waste.
This is where representation and influence matters - if an artist as popular as Ed Sheeran decided to do a zero-waste tour and insisted the organisers figure it out, they would. ( BookMyShow in this case)
Had he mentioned it once on stage that would be batting out of the park!!🔥😎
Thousands of young adults would see and hear this and perhaps some would make a permanent shift.
That’s the kind of influence the climate movement needs now. From everyone who can.

It's about 46 years since the movie "Mukaddar Ka Sikandar" was released.
There are 4 legendary brands in this Picture:
1. Premier Padmini.
2. Chetak Scooter.
3. Rajdoot Motor Cycle.
4. Amitabh Bachchan.
Only Amitabh Bachchan is still relevant today due to continuous reinventing of the product and brand driven by continuous Un-Learning and Re-Learning.
Big lessions for individual and Corporates.
Do you ever wish you could see what #AamchiMumbai looked like a few years ago? What life was like back then? 🥹🤩
