Helping orgs and managers understand people and (Dev)Ops | Digital Sherpa #DigitalSherpa #DigitalTransformation #DevOps #goDASA #AIethics #ITethics #MassEvolutions

Disney's internal Slack channels have been breached: https://lnkd.in/eX5XKkwc IT security is not a Disney tale, rather a brothers Grimm story. While I'm not saying we completely lock down everything so users can't work efficiently anymore, we should use the available technology to keep our information secure. Not only for our own position in the market but also because we are more responsible than ever for the information of our customers. Our moral and ethical duty is to ensure the best protection we can provide. The discussion should not be about "we can't fund IT Security", there should be a healthy discussion about "how much we can fund IT Security". I like to keep things simple and provide simple guidelines: We can start with "why" questions, followed by how and what (Simon Sinek, Golden Circle). Why should we invest (more) in IT Security? Why should we make IT Security a more important part of our strategy? How are we protected? How are we going to be secure in the future? What measures are we going to put in place? What tools are best suited for our situation? The answer to the why is and forever will be; the internet was not built to be secure, software is human art in progress, companies are sometimes forced to build back-doors in programs to allow surveillance (like messaging apps) etc. This makes the basics of any IT environment unsafe by design. We use tools to make the environment more secure. You need to keep up with new technologies asap and this costs money. Keep these in mind: Data is the new gold. Protecting your IT environment is no longer about just your company. Hackers are (almost) always one step ahead of you. The world is not a Disney fairy tale ;) #MassEvolutions #DigitalSherpa #ITsecurity #ITethics #AIethics #DigitalTransformation
