FUSO Convention 2024 was a huge success. Thanks a lot Fuso Perú for organizing the event. It was great to be part of it!   We met with our main strategic partners and were able to reinforce our customer-focused strategy that includes not only the focus on our customers but also the strengthening of our dealer network and after-sales service.   Looking forward, we will be launching the new Canter 4x4 and two more products, one for buses and another one for the last mile, which will be unveiled later this year. One highlight of the event was the award ceremony for the partners who have stood out over the past year. If there’s one thing I’ve learned so far this year it is to expect the unexpected. The results of the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend, which saw Lando and Oscar place 2nd and 7th respectively, are a great example of this. As I cheered on McLaren Racing at the Circuit de Catalunya, I was reminded not only of the extraordinary level of tenacity and focus needed in racing, but also that drivers are always expecting the unexpected. Taking a temperature check on the state of global trade so far this year, we would be remiss if we failed to notice the stark similarities. Between geopolitical tension, climate-related events, and logistical bottlenecks, global trade keeps being put to the test – as so too, logistics providers. Yet, these challenges have also created an enormous opportunity for logistics providers to rise to the occasion. In Europe so far, we have opened new trade routes connecting East and West through a new rail service at Yarimca, Türkiye; opened multiple new freight forwarding offices across Europe to respond to the rising customer demand for end-to-end and last-mile services; unveiled a new logistics hub in Aiud to connect Romania’s industrial heartland with the rest of Europe and the Far East; increased our Modal Shift Programme capacity at London Gateway in response to rising customer demand for solutions that lower their Scope 3 emissions; and started construction on a second rail crane at the Antwerp Gateway terminal at the Deurganck dock to increase the terminal’s rail handling capacity from 240 to 480 containers per day to increase efficiency and ease congestion in Northern Europe’s busy ports. This year has been both challenging and rewarding. We have been pushed to innovate our solutions, think ahead, and reassess the way we think about global trade. However, with the right people, skills, and tenacity, I’m confident we will continue to push the sector even further.
