As announced last month, METS Ignited Australia Ltd has successfully concluded our Industry Growth Centre Initiative (IGCI) funded by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. Our goal has been to accelerate commercialisation of innovation in Australia, enhance industry skills and capabilities, and grow exports from Australia’s Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) sector. In our eight years of operation, METS Ignited invested $16 million into 35 projects, attracting over 2.5 times industry matched funding from 76 Industry partners. The success of these collaborative industry projects commercialised more than 20 new Australian innovations, creating over 1000 local jobs, with those companies projecting revenues' over $900 million by 2025.   In terms of building capability, we trained over 190 companies through 24 Industry Accelerators, and delivered 55 Masterclasses to more than 920 industry participants. We invested in multiple innovation hubs, precincts, clusters and consortiums to continue our legacy, including CORE Innovation Hub, Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct, enviroMETS Qld, Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre, Australian Innovation eXchange, Electric Mine Consortium, QuantumTX, and UWA Industry 4.0 Energy & Resources Digital Interoperability (ERDi) Test Lab just to name a few.   All of this was achieved through the dedication of over 50 staff members, board members and secondee’s, as well as the support of numerous industry associations and partners who worked with us to achieve a common goal. In our final newsletter I mentioned building innovation capability is not a marathon, not a sprint, but a relay race. We have completed our leg, and pass the baton on with the sector in great shape. We are extremely proud of where we see Australia’s METS sector today, and encourage everyone to keep working together, building capability for the benefit of all.   And finally, as we wind up our operating activity and say our goodbyes, we will continue to post success stories from our projects and partners through this channel. Petrobras made the final investment decision in the brownfield projects Atapu 2 and Sépia 2 in Brazil by awarding the P-84 and P-85 FPSO contracts. Seatrium will build the duo of FPSOs under EPCI contracts worth US$8.15 billion. Each of them will have 225,000 b/d of oil processing capacity, contributing to Brazil's growth ambition to produce over 5 million b/d of liquids by the end of the decade. Stellar Resources Ltd (ASX:SRZ) MD Gary Fietz tells Proactive the company has defined an updated indicated resource of 3.52 million tonnes at 1.05% tin for 36,991 tonnes contained #tin for the Heemskirk Tin Project in Tasmania. This represents a 24% increase in contained tin compared to the November 2022 mineral resource estimate (MRE) and a 58% increase from the 2019 MRE, significantly increasing confidence in the project. The total MRE for the project has been updated to 7.48 million tonnes at 11.04% tin for 77,872 tonnes contained tin. The new Heemskirk total MRE continues to rank as the highest-grade undeveloped tin project in Australia and the third highest-grade globally of peer company projects.
