This is about a 20% increase from Hong Kong’s payouts for the Tokyo games. **Singapore** An Olympic gold medalist from Singapore receives a whopping $1,028,000. This substantial incentive reflects the country's commitment to sporting excellence. **Indonesia** Indonesia ranks third, offering less than half of Hong Kong and Singapore at roughly $414,000 to their gold medalists. This nonetheless substantial reward aims to motivate athletes and recognize their hard work and dedication on the international stage. Where do the United States and Canada fit in? The US Olympic & Paralympic Committee awards roughly $52,000 for a gold medal, The Canadian Olympic Committee provides $20,000 for a gold medal, $15,000 for silver, and $10,000 for bronze. These bonuses come from a combination of private funding and sponsorship deals. **Fun fact: healthcare entrepreneur Sanjay Malaviya of Hespeler, ON, has graciously pledged an additional $5,000 to each Canadian athlete who medals at Paris 2024. ______ The variation in payouts often depends on the country's economic resources, sponsorship deals, and the importance placed on sports and international recognition. I have had occasion to visit Delhi after the Commonwealth and now Paris after the Olympics and Paralympics. Delhi after the 2010 Commonwealth Games: The city saw significant upgrades – new metro lines, flyovers, and modern sports facilities like Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Public spaces were revamped, and there was a strong push for urban development. While some of these changes have had a lasting effect, especially in transportation, challenges remain in maintaining and utilizing the infrastructure post-event. When Max Maeder secured that bronze medal at the Olympics, it wasn’t just a win—it was a defining moment for Singapore. At only 17, Max became not only the youngest athlete ever to win a medal for Singapore, it was also one of the nation’s six Olympic medals ever won. This achievement resonated deeply, especially as it coincided with Singapore’s 59th National Day. As a foreigner living in Singapore, I’ve come to understand the weight of such victories. In a country where every achievement is celebrated as a collective triumph, Max’s bronze is more than a medal; it’s a symbol of what can be accomplished through perseverance and passion. What strikes me about Singapore is its unyielding spirit. This nation may be small, but its heart is immense. It’s a place where dreams are nurtured, where hard work is valued, and where every milestone, no matter how big or small, is honored. Max’s win is a reflection of this spirit, a reminder that success isn’t about the color of the medal, but the journey it represents. As we celebrate this incredible achievement, I am reminded of the countless moments that define us. It’s in these moments that we find our true strength, our true potential. The Paris Olympics 2024 During previous Olympics... I was prone to support individuals [or teams] from Canada, UK, USA, France, and my home team Australia. But not this year. Sure I was thrilled by some of the individual/team performances from representative of those countries; however... The point is that these people all have oppressive governments which promote compliance. Olympic Games are held so the youth of the world can come together with a spirit of goodwill towards others and the expectation of high achievement by all. These attributes were displayed by many many competitors [for example when Arisa Trew won gold for Australia] but not exemplified by the host nation. Did you notice, as I did, that Russia was not there. Why not? Perhaps, Russia does not welcome the open displays of woke lunacy as evident in the Opening Ceremony. Perhaps, France was unable to accept the notion that all qualified competitors meet, and compete, in a spirit of cooperation, trust, and unity. Paris has always been my favourite city; however, the wokeness that hangs over it today is a complete turn off. Vive la Paris and may all your citizens soon discard this woke virus. Richard.

Building an end-to-end supply chain for a major event such as the Olympic & Paralympic Games Paris 2024 is a massive challenge.   Normally our team of product and operations experts work tirelessly and unnoticed, happy to be the behind-the-scenes problem solvers, the makers of unseen miracles.   But sometimes it's nice when these achievements are recognised. After a year of working on circular economy solutions, we are proud that the French press have recently taken a big interest in this fascinating project.   At each Games, we try to innovate even further in terms of sustainable sourcing and Paris 2024 is undoubtedly the project that has taken us the furthest.   For the first time, RGS Events will be supplying sofas made from old mattresses, coffee tables made from recycled badminton shuttlecocks, beanbags made from parachute canvas and chairs made from recycled bottle caps.   These products - all Made in France - will be at the centre of the village, at the centre of the Games, when the whole world watches Paris.    The countdown clock is ticking fast now and RGS Events are thrilled to be a part of these amazing Games.
