New to the #Olympics, 3x3 is the fastest form of basketball. It is a 10-minute game with three players a side, half a court, one hoop, no timeout and no courtside coach. Player fatigue causes shot accuracy to plummet in the last 90 seconds of the game, so every advantage counts. 🏅 With the start of Wimbledon today, an #AlphaSense expert has revealed a patent issued for systems and methods to detect the number of viewers during major sporting events like the Superbowl or the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. 📺 TV set-top boxes, streaming devices, and media systems can identify the content being viewed, but determining the actual number of viewers remains a challenge. 💡 Expert thinks- 🎾 Provide systems and methods for allowing viewers to be detected and identified by a media device automatically. 🎾 Provide a system that scans for the wireless signal of viewers’ devices and determines, based on distance and direction, how many viewers are watching media content being displayed on a nearby TV or display. 🎾 Use Bluetooth LE technology in current set-top boxes, streaming devices, and media systems to scan for devices within the vicinity and determine the number of viewers. 🎾 Associate each viewer and their devices with a user profile to account for a single user having many devices, such as a smart watch and a smartphone.
