"The lack of in-room tech and entertainment options in hotels is a common criticism among industry experts. There was a time when hotel rooms commonly were seen as more of a luxury; now, the tech inside of people’s homes is usually more advanced than that in hotels. The televisions in many hotels only offer cable, and often no streaming capabilities at all. Jolie Fleming, chief product and technology officer for IHG Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement that adding this type of in-room entertainment capability is part of an effort to create a “home-away-from-home” experience that many guests are looking for. “When people travel, we know they want to take some of the comforts of home with them – whether that’s watching their favorite shows or finishing a movie they started,” he said in a statement." I am surprised it has taken the hotel industry so long to realise that they can make their properties a lot more attractive by simply offering what a lot of their guests already have at home when it comes to tech. I actually cannot remember the last time I turned on the TVs in my hotel rooms other than to play my music through the TV speakers (and while we are at it, why don't all hotel rooms come with bluetooth speakers???) #hoteltech #apple #airplay #homeawayfromhome #workfromanywhere #connectivity

I have seen people crying and complaining about Hotels, Motels, AirBnBs, Lodges and or any lodging places and suspect that they could be having hidden cameras inside the rooms. Lemme teach you a simple trick...✍🏾 - The moment you enter the hotel room, switch the lights off in the hotel room - take your smartphone out and open your camera - go to the video option and press record - move around the room recording all lights, vents, etc - what you are looking for is a red light in your video, if you see a red light it means there's a camera in that position. A video camera picks up infra red lighting

"When there's fuel left in the tank, keep driving'... mused keen philosopher and Airwave's head of hospitality sales, Wayne Bowring. He, of course, was referring to Airwave's recent upgrade of Z Holborn's guestroom entertainment platform. Instead of discarding the existing TVs during the system refresh, Airwave integrated them into a modern, fully upgraded TV system. Not just a win for cost efficiency, a win for the environment: 1️⃣ Reduced E-Waste: By repurposing the existing TVs, Z Hotels avoided unnecessary disposal of electronic equipment, contributing to the reduction of e-waste—a growing global concern. 2️⃣ Resource Efficiency: Extending the lifecycle of technology reduces the demand for new materials and energy required for manufacturing. 3️⃣ Cost-Effective & Eco-Friendly: A win-win for Z Hotels and the planet. The solution not only delivered a high-quality guest experience, it also aligned with sustainability goals. Good on you, Wayne! After a year of intense developement and finding right ecosystems, we are finding raving success, installing digital guest room entertainment systems at hotels. We have jumped most of the hoops to bring OTT platforms to the TVs in hotel rooms. Hotels continue to use cable channels for their in-room entertainment whereas the guest have already moved away from linear content to on-demand content. Everything, inside a guest room, has evolved to latest tech but the TV content delivery remains to be decades old. This has resulted into guests not watching television. We have addressed all the issues that has held hotels from embracing this technology. There are quite a few hotels that have installed our systems and we are already flooded with requests from hotels not only in India but also from neighbouring countries. The next logical step would be to start creating content tailor made for hospitality industry. This would create avenues for monetisation. We are building a new vertical to address this under Treya MediaWorks. Exciting times ahead!!
