This year’s sustainability report has arrived! We are proud of the work that we are continuously doing to become a more sustainable brand. In light of all the ongoing initiatives at Samsung, this year’s Nordic sustainability report takes a closer look at the role sustainability plays in our customer relationships and how this can be developed further. On the 24th of November, Bang & Olufsen won the annual German Sustainability Award for our work to role model sustainability within consumer electronics. The award is endorsed by the German Federal Government, local and business associations, and numerous NGOs. 140 jurors selected the companies leading the sustainable transformation in their sectors this year, and they said the following about our work: “Bang & Olufsen has made particularly effective, exemplary contributions to transformation in sustainability, thereby setting an example and sending the right signals to its industry and beyond.” The past year, we continued our work to champion longevity in our sector and inspire a change towards a more circular future. We now have two products Cradle-to-Cradle Certified ©, which is one of the world’s most ambitious circularity standards, and we will certify at least 10 products by 2025. E-waste is the world’s fastest-growing waste stream, and as an industry, we need to address that. We're thrilled to be working with Better Battery Co. to empower consumers to energize sustainably! ⚡️♻️🔋 When their founders couldn’t find a battery with positives that outweighed the negatives, they pioneered the first-ever carbon-neutral battery that performs brilliantly, is priced fairly, and allows consumers to recycle batteries conveniently at no additional cost. We don’t want consumers walking by these on the shelves thinking they’re just like every other battery and missing out on the opportunity to feel better about their battery use. To help Better Battery Co. stand out from competitors, we designed free-standing and on-shelf in-store displays that showcase the product while educating on key benefits and telling their brand story. It might be hard to believe these aren’t real-life photos, but check out these renders of designs we presented to their team of displays that are easily recyclable to further echo the brand's core values. How to start measuring an organization’s carbon footprint? Here’s what we did for HEMA, a Dutch retail company with almost 750 stores, contributing to its journey to become climate-neutral by 2050. Following the Greenhouse Gas Protocol methodology, our Industries team calculated HEMA’s first carbon footprint, mapping scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. More details are provided in the graphic below. Based on this analysis, HEMA identified the areas of its operations that contribute significantly to its climate footprint and where impactful changes could be made. The organization now aims to significantly reduce its CO₂-eq emissions by aligning with global targets set by the Science Based Targets initiative.
