From September 2024, we'll be switching off our 3G technology. To make the transition from 3G as easy as possible, Optus customers can now check whether their devices are impacted by texting the number ‘3’ to 3498. We are also directly contacting customers whose devices are impacted. If you receive an email, letter, or SMS from us, you will need a new device to stay connected. This change will primarily impact 3G devices, plus some 4G devices including models that may have been purchased overseas or imported which aren’t configured for Australian networks or do not support 4G VoLTE. If you’re currently using a personal medical device, security device or embedded network device that relies on the 3G network, it will stop working from September 2024. We recommend you urgently check with the device manufacturer and upgrade your affected device (with Optus or another provider) as soon as possible. ***Joint Telstra and Optus Release: Extension of 3G Shutdown for Telstra and Optus - now commencing 28 October 2024*** All 3G users with 3G reliant devices need to be ready to move to 4G and 5G networks by 28 October 2024 as the 3G networks will commence closure from that date. Telstra and Optus will extend the closure of their 3G networks and conduct a public safety awareness campaign so all Australians know what action they need to take. It is critical customers check their devices are compatible with the 4G or 5G network particularly to ensure they are still able to call emergency services and act upon any communications they receive from their service provider. It is also important for users of connected devices like medical monitors, loT sensors and EFTPOS to check whether they rely on the 3G network by contacting the manufacturer or supplier. The 3G network is closing with an obvious move towards 4G and 5G and Low Power alternatives (Nb-IoT for example). What does that mean for your product on the Australian market? Are those products using 3G or have they been upgraded already?? If any doubt, it is better to check it, and might be time for a new product launch! #Iot #Electronicsproduct #3G #InternetOfthings
