*WITH AUDIO* Took footage of a person watching his car, and hopped on to Nuke to make it look like it caught on fire. In addition, I added in smoke, debris, and flickering lights to make it glow in the dark. This time, I made my own version, editing the Lumitri Colors and adding background audio in Premiere Pro. #visualeffects #nuke #foundry #premierepro #videoediting

When I first got my hands on the script for messages, I knew the main thing I had to do was establish this sense of unease that was present throughout. There are numerous ways of doing this but one I like to go to is music and post production. In regard to music, thankfully I knew Jay from working on a live concert series and knew his style of ambient music would really go a long way into helping establish tone. Whenever I’m running point on a project, I’m really keen on collaboration and very quickly myself, Nat & Jay found a winning formula. In regard to VFX, one way we I found to help create this sense of unease was to abuse the warp stabiliser tool in Premiere pro. Normally, this tool is used to smooth footage but when abused creates a good amount of distortion and warping. When combined with the score makes for unease and discomfort.

So after being branded the Video Magician by May King Tsang I'd thought I'd share some more video tips for simple visual effects. This is one of the simple things that maybe everyone else picks up straight away, but took me a while to understand. While most people know you can add the transition effects to video clips, in Davinci Resolve at least, you can also apply them to the Text effects as well. Below is an example which is three Text effects with transitions between them (Circle Spin, Crash Zoom and Warp at the end). While there's a huge number of other ways to animate text, this one gives a really quick-to-achieve effect.
