What are the 3 main symptoms of autism in babies? Unlocking Potential: Nurturing Children with #Autism🌈 Welcome to the Lalan Academy of Autism & Child Physiotherapy in #Ranchi! Early signs of autism in babies can be subtle, but they are essential to recognize for early intervention. Here are three main symptoms to watch for: 1. Reduced Eye Contact or Facial Expressions: Babies with autism may avoid making eye contact or have limited facial expressions. They might not respond to smiles or engage in typical social interactions. 2. Sensitivity to Loud Noises: Some infants with autism may be overly sensitive to loud sounds. They might react strongly or become distressed when exposed to noise. 3. Limited Babbling or Communication: Delayed or minimal babbling is another sign. Babies typically start cooing and making sounds around 6 months, but those with autism may show delays in vocal communication. Remember that every child develops at their own pace, and these signs alone do not confirm autism. If you have concerns, consult with a healthcare professional for proper evaluation and guidance. Are we comparing apples to oranges here? 🤔🍎🍊 A recent study suggests that higher amounts of intervention may not be more helpful for children on the autism spectrum. This raises a critical question for our community: Are we focusing too much on the quantity of intervention rather than the quality? At Hi Rasmus, we believe it's essential to consider both the quality and quantity of intervention. We provide a flexible platform to deliver the highest quality services. Our mission is to help you keep the focus on the child in front of you. How do we balance the quantity and quality of interventions? How much does quantity matter? Share your thoughts in the comments. https://lnkd.in/g2R-mPkg

The fourth and final paper from my PhD research is now available Open Access in Autism Research! “Child and Caregiver Predictors of Primary Caregiver Participation in Families of School-Aged Autistic Children” This study forms part of a broader investigation into child and family well-being. Our results revealed that caregiver participation in meaningful activities was associated with their Autistic child’s increasing age, everyday life skills and independence, as well as caregivers’ higher perceived quality of life and enhanced confidence in fulfilling their child’s needs. Targeted supports for building important life skills in Autistic children and increasing parents’ sense of efficacy in meeting their child’s needs may help to improve outcomes for families of Autistic children. Report on the current state of support for neurodivergent kids. More indisputable evidence that the system is failing children and families time and time again. My key take aways: - Children are waiting too long, and there’s is not the capacity in the health or education systems to meet the current need. -NICE guidelines state children should be offered an appointment with 13 weeks of a referral for an autism assessment. Data shows that for nearly all children this is not happening. - Indications of 300% increase in need for autism assessments since covid ( it doesn’t say about the funding, but in the ground it feels like there are less staff then before and there is less funding) https://lnkd.in/eEDWUNyR
