Compete or complement? After a couple of years of heavily academic papers through my MBA, I’m throughly enjoying practical reads. No Bullsh*t strategy by Alex M H Smith is currently one of these. I’ve often talked about the benefit of better integration of health, wellbeing and fitness markets. The ability to view an ecosystem rather than a battleground is one aspect of this. At tops:health we have explored many different service offerings over the years but the challenge with this is the possible dilution of key messages. Therefore, focussing on what we are truly excellent at, specialist physiotherapy and rehab, is the strategy. What does this mean in practice? One aspect is stopping group classes and therefore sacrificing our local market share. However, this opens new space to no longer “beat” local businesses on these services but complement the ecosystem and do our “job” of offering fully personalised, data driven rehab. This 👇 “Strategy is as much about what you are not going to do”. What are you not going to do in 2024 to perform? #health #msk #data #rehab #oxford #oxforshire #strategy #physio #physiotherapy #physioclinic #personalised #individual #rehabilitation #performance #performancemanagement

Physiotherapist | Founder & Managing Director of Cura Healthcare Services | Certified Dry Needling Therapist | Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist | Business Administrator | Empowering Doctors
From college days, I have a habit of making friends or getting to know people who are at least 8 to 20 years older than me. It gives me an upper hand in learning faster and more easily than my age group. As a physiotherapist I find myself lucky that I got the best mentors in my start of my career that also includes my seniors from The Oxford College of Physiotherapy During college days I had Dr.Prabhu sir as my mentor, he was also the principal of the college. Things I learnt from him : Communication Skills, How to Take Calculated Risks, How to handle employees, Never stop learning & One of the biggest lessons I learnt is to have EMPATHY for others. He was the main person who motivated and pushed me to start my own center in Bangalore. I am always thankful and grateful to him. As I started my career, through Dr.Prabhu I was introduced to Ram Prakash Suriyanarayanan sir. When I was working under him, I learnt a lot about business. How to do sales. He literally taught me sales funnel & encouraged me to start networking with other physiotherapists. He is one of the visionary people I have ever met, By the way all physios should check Physio Plus Tech its an awesome thing. And now when I am in business running my own company Cura Health Care Services I found my mentor Dr Animesh Gandhi, founder & director of Delight Women's Hospital. A person who really believes in serving the society. I am learning the importance of patient education in the healthcare industry. The importance of medico legal documents, its like every day I am learning something new. I feel most of the physiotherapists need to understand the value and importance of having a Mentor in our professional life, because once we start being our own boss, we somehow neglect learning, we are fully occupied with our own patients that we don't find to up-skill ourselves. A mentor will guide, help & support when you feel its a dead end here, He/she will be your light in darkness. If you are still there at the end of the article do tag your mentors who guided you through your professional life and bring a smile to their face. #physiotherapist #physiotherapy #mentorship #mentorshipmatters #learning #physicaltherapy #leadership #empathy #upskilling #doctors #physio

One size doesn’t fit all: Navigating the vast array of courses and approaches can be overwhelming for any therapist. Early in my career, I took numerous courses but found true direction when I chose the Maitland concept. I completed a residency and the Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars (MAPS) certification, which provided a solid framework based on a test-retest model. This approach has become the cornerstone of my practice today. I strongly recommend doing thorough research and talking to other professionals to find what resonates with you. Everyone's path can be different, and what works for one person may not be the best fit for another. Once you identify an approach that aligns with your values and goals, immerse yourself in it. Build a strong foundation, and then you can start integrating other ideas and techniques. This methodical progression ensures you have a solid base to support further growth and development in your practice. #Therapy #ProfessionalGrowth #MaitlandConcept #ContinuousLearning

Assistant Professor & Program Coordinator of Physical Therapy | Certified Health Profession Education
My point of view: Physiotherapy is a dynamic and expanding field that plays a crucial role in promoting health and well-being by restoring movement and function in individuals affected by injury or illness. With over 15 years of experience and advanced academic qualifications, I see physiotherapy as a vital link between medicine and patient-centered care, embracing evidence-based interventions and holistic approaches. The demand for physiotherapists is rapidly increasing due to factors like aging populations, lifestyle-related diseases, and sports injuries, creating diverse career opportunities in hospitals, clinics, sports organizations, and private practice. Integration of technology, preventive care, and a shift towards holistic health promotion are shaping the evolving role of physiotherapists globally. Physiotherapists are now involved in research, education, and policy-making, advocating for better healthcare systems and advancing the profession beyond clinical practice. By staying updated with advancements and embracing lifelong learning, physiotherapists can continue to thrive and positively impact patients' lives on a global scale. #Physiotherapy #Healthcare #GlobalHealth #Wellness #Career opportunities

Good afternoon LinkedIn community✨ 21 days challenge with coach Maverick💯 Day 3/21 If I could go back in time and converse with my past self as a freshly baked Physiotherapist, what would I tell my past self🤔? I would definitely say it's always all about the patient👌never forget that!!! I would remind my past self that during our training years in school, we were usually taught that if Mr A have a particular 'condition/disease', then there is a treatment approach for that condition/disease that we should follow, as a Physiotherapist Focus was placed on Mr A 'Condition/disease' and not on Mr A himself😞 but, as you journey in this our noble profession🩺, you would come to realize that the best form of treatment is a patient centered treatment and not a condition/disease centred treatment, which is also the recommend treatment approach by WHO(World Health Organization) When did we begin to improve on our treatment approach? my past self would ask🤔 And on a final note; I would say to my past self, indeed we have come a long way💃and farther we are shall still go✨Amen. #21daychallengewithcoachmaverick #Physiotherapist #Healtheducator #HealthTech

Your job as a physio is NOT just to fix a patient’s injury. That’s only one part of your job. The other… To stop them breaking down when they return! Never is this more important than in sport. Anyone can ‘accelerate’ a patient through a rehab programme and get a patient or athlete with an ACL, lateral ankle or post op shoulder back to full ‘fitness’… Seemingly faster than expected… But that is not good, if they break down again no sooner than they have returned. This has cost physio’s their jobs in sport. Coaches need their best players on the pitch. When they get injured that’s not great and there is always pressure to get them back as soon as possible. You should always be respectful of the injury, but a good sports physio will push players to get back to full fitness quickly. Great sports physio’s do this AND ensure they have covered all bases so their players have the resilience they need stop them breaking down again… With either a re-injury of the same problem, or an injury somewhere else. The same skill-set is needed in private practice or with your NHS patients. You owe it to your patient’s to fix their injury, but also ensure they are ready to return. Having put all that hard work and time into the rehab programme, the last thing you want is for them to end up injured again! How do you check that your patient’s are ready to return to their chosen activities, occupations, hobbies and higher level activities and sport? If you do not have a system to do this… Are you just guessing your patient is ready to return to higher level activities… And just crossing your fingers hoping they will be ok? Andy Barker New Grad Physio Mentor PS. Want to learn more about the 6 step system I use with every patient and professional athlete I work with?
