EV is the Future: in addition to tax and incentives that may be available in your country, EVs do not need oil changes, meaning fewer scheduled maintenance visits, plus the money you can save on gas. Considering the convenience of home charging, going to a gas station will be a thing of your past. #EV #iworkforgm #Bolt #Chevrolet #future

Interesting news came from Kansas Star. Panasonic's new battery plant in Kansas will require an amount of energy equivalent to that used by a small city, forcing a nearby utility to halt the shutdown of a coal-fired power plant. Evergy (Kansas coal power plant operator) says that Panasonic's 4-million-square-foot plant in will double the utility's load and require two new substations and upgrades to 31 miles of transmission lines. Evergy is also citing the Panasonic plant, which will produce batteries for electric vehicles, in saying it will continue to burn coal at a Lawrence power plant until at least 2028. The utility will also delay until then plans to transition part of the plant from coal to natural gas. At full production, the Panasonic plant will have roughly 200 to 250 megawatts of demand, according to testimony from Ryan Mulvany, Evergy’s vice president of distribution.
