Ainak is a Silicon Valley nonprofit, in providing free eye exams and prescription eyeglasses to the under-resourced children in California.
Ainak's mission is a powerful commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind in their educational journey due to the financial constraints of their parents or guardians in affording proper eye care. We believe in providing every child with the opportunity to achieve a 20/20 vision, recognizing that this not only supports their academic success but also cultivates the confidence necessary for them to thrive in life and pursue their dreams.
The statistics further underscore the urgency and significance of our mission. A staggering 62 million Americans lack access to essential eye care and eyeglasses, creating a substantial gap in addressing visual health needs. Equally concerning is the fact that over 300,000 children commence their school year each September with vision impairment, underscoring the critical nature of our work.
Alarming is the diagnosis of vision impairment in 1 in 3 preschool-aged children. This statistic emphasizes the crucial role Ainak plays in intervening at an early age to prevent not only immediate hindrances to learning but also to avert potentially severe eye health problems as these children mature.
