❗There's no way I could stress enough how important technician's work is during a conference!❗ Last week I worked at a conference where my colleague-technician was absent and it was a nightmare! Yes, I can fix things here and there when needed (and it was pretty much needed) but that's not the point! The point is that a technician is a professional who knows how to act preemptively and make things run smoothly! It's what they do million times better than me. Im gonna do #trichedouttuesday a little different. I have had 2 careers in my lifetime. one career was as a bicycle mechanic. i did this for around 12 years. the other career was a backline technician in the live music industry in which i am still part time employed I am also a trained sound engineer. 2 totally different career paths but both careers use many if the same techniques and train of thinking. tuning a drum head is almost identicle to truing a wheel. tunng gears almost identicle to tuning guitars. i have grown cannabis since i was 15 years old. it started out as curiosity and became a part of me. many of the techniques involved with growing cannabis can also be attributed to my former careers. here is an example. drying cannabis is very very much like recording a band. when you record, mix and master a band, the stages are similar to germination, vege and flower and dry and cure. when you record a band, you want that record to be as perfect as possible. you want the best microphone positioning, you want your EQ to be the best you can get it. the more precise you are with the innotial recording, the less you need to do in the mixdown. this is just like gemination and vege. the mix fown is the flowering stage so if everything is done right in vege the less is needed in flower. drying and curing is a lot like mastering. if the recording is perfect and the mix down has achieved the right levels, then your master will be a breeze. however, it is still easy to mess up the mastering. mastering extremely difficult and like an art in itself. if the master is messed up then the sound is thin and lacks dynamics. you cant fix the recording with mastering either. with drying and curing you want to preserve that aroma you cultivated as much as possible. this means understnading the dynamics of the plant. knowing what terpenes are present, how to retian those terpenes and understanding how to break down chlorophyll at the same rate as removing moisture from the plant material. the world is a complex yet simple place. much like this plant. pictured: Frankensteins candy bred by Olympia Genetics from Olympia WA.
