Independent Consultant in Mathematics and Science Education, specializing in K-12 Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
Looking forward to the upcoming discussions with NSIA K12 math faculty on elevating our instructional core! We're exploring how AI technology, particularly Chat GPT, can seamlessly blend with evidence-based mathematics teaching strategies. Our main focus? Delving into how strategic planning for core instruction, when enriched with AI tools, can fundamentally transform our teaching strategies. This isn't just about integrating new technology; it's a journey towards creating inclusive, personalized educational experiences for every student. We will not just be talking theory; we're diving into the practical application of AI within the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework. Our mission is clear: to develop teaching methods that are not only effective but also versatile enough to meet the diverse needs of our learners. Looking forward to sharing insights and learning together as we navigate this exciting intersection of AI and math education. Stay tuned for updates and feel free to share your thoughts on this transformative journey! #AIinEducation #MathTeaching #InclusiveLearning #EducationalInnovation #UDL #FutureOfEducation #MathEducation #AIIntegration #InclusiveTeaching #UDL #EducationalTechnology #TeachingInnovation #21stcenturyeducation #projectAERO

Building on this insight! We need to shift from fearing AI will replace learning to exploring how it can deepen understanding. Like calculators freed students to tackle complex problems, AI tools can help learners focus on higher-order thinking. Let's embrace progress while preserving educational fundamentals. #AIeducation #futureoflearning #KarimPadaniya #AI

Today I came across a fascinating photograph from 1966 showing math teachers protesting the use of calculators in lower grades. It got me thinking about the parallels to today's discussions around AI and education. Just like calculators didn't replace the need for math skills, GPT and LLMs shouldn't replace critical thinking and analysis. When used responsibly to enhance learning, these tools can be powerful assets for students. #AIeducation #edtech #futureoflearning #responsibleAI #educationinnovation #teachingandlearning #highereducation #k12education #lifelonglearning

In academia, there's been a mix of reactions to AI tools like GPT. Personally, I see no harm in using them. In fact, I often ask my students to search for information first—using any source. Because at the end of the day, I am the one evaluating them. They may find answers easily, but without brainstorming or engaging with their peers or group members, they struggle to contribute meaningfully to discussions. AI can make our lives easier, but ultimately, it’s up to us to use these tools wisely and focus on how we can improve our skills alongside them. What do you think?

Totally agreed. GPT prompts that most of us use are way direct and doesn’t let us traverse through the complete thought process. It’s pretty commonly used nowadays by students in academia, diverging from the books and getting a direct report within moments ,lacking adequate comprehension, which they later use to improve grades.(Even seemingly smart students use a humaniser for the AI generated content that is used to bypass the AI detection softwares adopted by the colleges) It's of no help and is nothing different from doing maths just opening the solution book, without bothering to give it a thought. Rather the prompts can be given in a way as to help enhance the thought process (i.e-using gpt to get a hint/knowing what to learn to solve this category of problem) . That is possibly one of the best use of Gpts taking the human learning process and efficiency into account.
