The reason the security industry’s training is becoming so poor. The security industry are falling into the trap that a classroom education with zero hands on experience is the way to go. This has a knock on effect to the clients who get substandard training for their staff because the instructor has no practical knowledge of the subject they teach. The Security industry also going down the same route with online training. Courses like the ones given by ACT are great for giving you an insight into such situations like active shooter, but must never take the place of physical training because their are some subjects that cannot be done online or read from a book, active shooter, MTA, situational awareness and pen testing are four such subjects. If you have no hands on experience teaching a certain subject matter, you will be found out instantly. There is a reason why I consult the like of Ginge Johnson Alan White and Lofty Wiseman when looking for answers for the stuff we teach. The Advanced Security Training is almost a must in today's security, ensuring that guards are fully prepared and knowledgeable in the work they do. The Course covers; Security Services Act and Regulation Advanced Force Options Theory Introduction to Control Tactics Application of Restraints Excited Delirium Syndrome & Positional Asphyxia Reporting & Documentation The application of restraints applies only to persons working in positions such as Loss Prevention (where conducting an arrest is most likely), and the carrying of restraints has to be authroized by the company and client, but there is so much more to the course than just applying restraints. Getting a better understanding of the Security Services Act and Regulation, Introduction to Control Tactics (useful when unable to escape from a physical confrontation), understanding Excited Delirium Syndrome & Positional Asphyxia and how to deal with person(s) experiencing this, and (most important) Reporting & Documentation. PLEASE SHARE When attending an SIA Course please ensure you have suitable ID. This applies to ALL SIA courses including TOP UP. Your training provider should of sent you what ID will be accepted. BE AWARE providing Insufficient ID WILL result in you forfeiting the course and possibly losing your course fee. A passport photograph will also be required. Additionally if you are attending a reduced hours course where distance learning is required if this is not completed the same applies you cannot complete the course. Training providers are often criticized. Do not complain when we are trying to follow the qualification specification laid down by the Awarding Body and the SIA. Finally course timings.
