Irrespective of your industry, this is a must-read. Will Guidara 's Unreasonable Hospitality - the story of Eleven Madison Park, leadership, and teamwork. https://lnkd.in/epgvG6yF People talk about going above and beyond, about brilliant experiences, amazing hospitality. However, only when you move from being attentive, to paying attention can you deliver a genuine, lasting, memorable impact. To quote: "People will forget what you do; they'll forget what you said. But they'll never forget how you made them feel." That's all built on non-negotiables. When Charlie Raincock and I started the agency back in 2002, our first principle remains one of our non-negotiables to this day. Proactivity. Being on the front-foot…with an idea (when not asked), with a call (when not expected)…is not an unreasonable thing to ask, or do. It’s what makes you better. It’s not an easy thing to do, to maintain though. Even harder in today’s world of instant gratification and distraction. But it's important. And for a visual understanding of Unreasonable Hospitality...if you haven't watched it, watch it.... Profit with Purpose | Purpose Consultant | B Corp Certified | Keynote Speaker | Award Winning Author | Host of the "For Love & Money Podcast" | The Social Purpose Activist
Last week Phil Preston, my co-conspirator-in-purpose and I co-hosted our first “Igniting Purpose” dinner event in Sydney. We brought together ten #purposedrivenleaders from different industries, occupying a range of leadership roles. They each shared something in common – a belief that creating a healthy planet with shared prosperity depends on building purpose-driven business as a force for good. But they also have something else in common – and it sets them apart from many other leaders. They are doing something about it. I suspect it’s fair to say they each think they’re just doing what needs to be done, but Phil and I recognise them as visionary leaders. That’s why we brought them together in the intimate setting of Long Chim’s semi-private dining area. Our mission is to support purpose-driven leaders to positively change the way we do business from the inside out. We created this dinner event as a taster of something else, something special, that we are creating. But we also wanted to test it on its own merits to see if it could deliver the kind of value we are committed to creating, at a lighter level. Based on the feedback we’ve had so far, it seems a semi-regular curated dinner event could offer a light touch way to “ignite purpose”. So if the leadership traits I described fit the glove – or if you know of someone that fits that description - we’d love to hear from you. The link in my comment below will take you to a page to learn a bit more and register your interest. Meantime, drink up the vibe of our first #IgnitingPurpose dinner event in the short video below, created by another #purposedriven creator, my incredibly talented videographer daughter Siena Nisavic. #ignitingpurpose #leadership #purpose #profitwithpurpose

Corporate Senior Vice President / Chief Medical and Operations Officer of Ambulatory Care at Scripps Health
Yesterday, I had the privilege of bringing in a special guest speaker for my leadership team - Bill Gross, a friend and the General Manager of the AAA Five 💎Diamond resort, The Lodge at Torrey Pines. This world-renowned resort under the executive leadership of my friend, Robert Gleason, is known for its exceptional service. Bill’s invaluable service lessons and insights left us inspired. Here are some key quotes: 1️⃣ If someone cannot muster a smile in the interview, they may not be able to do it in their job. 2️⃣ Service is just the technical delivery of a product, hospitality is how you make them feel. It doesn’t cost more to make people feel good. 3️⃣ Our team is trained to do the difficult immediately. For the impossible, just give us a few more minutes. Bill’s insights engaged our team and reinforces that true excellence in service isn’t just about the tasks—it’s about crafting memorable experiences and fostering a culture of hospitality. Excited to see how our team will incorporate these principles into our work Scripps Health. #GettingToYes #GPTW #Leadership #Hospitality #ServiceExcellence #CustomerExperience #LeadershipDevelopment

Training formerly incarcerated individuals in systems for success | Sr. Program Manager & Facilitator at Defy Ventures | Certified Coach
Everyone should read Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. It's a masterclass in how to create great experiences. In part, the book is the story of how Eleven Madison Park went from being the 50th best restaurant in the world to the 1st in just seven years. But it's also about being a remarkable leader. And not just by title either. The philosophy of Unreasonable Hospitality is all about how executives and employees can be hyper focused on the little details to give customers more than they'd ever expect. You do not need to run a restaurant or hotel to follow this strategy. Quite the contrary. Everyone is in the hospitality business. Looking to set yourself apart from the competition and "wow" your clients? Or build a winning culture that rallies around a mission? Do yourself a favor and pick up this book. If you've already done so, I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments. #books #hospitality #leadership

The Hospitality Customer You Didn’t Train For How to Handle the Unexpected Ever had that one guest who completely surprised you? 😲 You’ve trained your team for everything, but sometimes a guest walks in with an unexpected request. It happened to me at a hotel I managed—12 cats 🐱! Yes, twelve! Our pet-friendly policy didn’t cover that, but we adapted. We turned a ground-floor room into a space that worked for everyone. Flexibility was key! In hospitality, you can’t plan for everything, but you can train your team to stay calm, be flexible, and think on their feet. It’s about creating positive outcomes, even when things don’t go as planned. How has your team handled the unexpected? Share your stories! 👇 #Hospitality #CustomerExperience #ServiceExcellence #Leadership #ProblemSolving #Unexpected
