HATHOS is #NowOnView at Vienna Collectors Club, and can be seen until July 19th. How to describe the peculiar sensation that washes over you when your fingernails graze a concrete surface and a shudder runs down your spine? And how to articulate the pleasurable feeling that emerges when you peel away the crust of a wound or squeeze a pimple? Isn’t it a weird blend of repulsion and satisfaction, a paradoxical mix of discomfort and gratification? The theory that we can achieve happiness by maximizing pleasure and minimizing the unpleasant is both intuitive and popular. But can satisfaction and gratification alone make us feel fulfilled? Or do we want and even need to experience some sort of pushback? Isn’t the discomforting an essential counterpart for pleasure, and would our existence devoid of it descend into a dull, boring, and downright undesirable abyss? Within HATHOS Sophie Hirsch takes over the apartment of Vienna Collectors Club, inviting visitors to delve into the giddy thrill of the attraction to something you really can’t stand—the compulsion of revulsion. 🗿 What is a masterpiece? ⛱️ A 'masterpiece' is something different for everyone! Maybe 'masterpiece' to you means something that has a practical use above all, rather than artistic or historical value. Or maybe your masterpiece is not rare at all, but just something you find in countless living rooms. The Museum aan de Stroom in Antwerp is always inspirational! Currently, they show an exhibition where Antwerp residents chose their personal masterpieces. For 'Eyecatchers', 16 Antwerp residents went in search of their masterpieces in the MAS collection. Unique, important, unseen or pioneering? Or useful, fascinating, recognizable or endearing? Here I show one, which made me think…. 🔥 Intriguing lighters 🔥 'Human creativity has always fascinated me. Where do ideas come from? How much ingenuity and imagination is needed to make an idea real and tangible? We often don't think about that when we look at a utensil. These lighters fascinate me for the same reason. They are inventive and amusing. In whose head did they originate?' https://lnkd.in/dS94k69b

📖✨ Once upon a time… That's how every fairytale begins. The Danish author Hans Christian Andersen’s real-life fairytale began in Odense, where he was born in 1805. Known for classics like “The Little Mermaid” and “The Ugly Duckling,” Andersen is a household name, though his hometown remains less known to the world. But if you’re a fan of his fairytales, Odense in Denmark is a must-visit. Andersen wrote stories about his life - now his hometown is creating its own story around him. You can visit his childhood home and the remarkable H.C. Andersen Hus, designed by Kengo Kuma & Associates. The museum itself is an exhibit, offering experiences in open spaces, fairy tale rooms, underground, and in the visitors’ imaginations. In Odense, even the traffic lights feature Hans Christian Andersen 🚦. Everywhere in the city, you feel the presence of Andersen and his magical fairytales. Odense is a great example of place branding, and how the city uses its culture and history to create a story that resonates with people. At Concept Culture, we are passionate about place stories. What does a place tell us, and how does it brand itself? Want to learn more about place branding and how to integrate it into your place marketing strategy? Check out our blog. The philosopher Nietzsche once said: "Out of chaos comes a dancing star". Looking at this picture, some might think it's a mess, but that's actually how our creative process works. How do we organize an exhibition? It's about a collective of individuals exchanging ideas, drinking coffee, discussing details, drinking coffee again, imagining and drawing. At this point, someone gets a third cup of coffee, just to keep the energy up. 🙃 Sometimes we discuss a bit - because yes, we are passionate! - but it usually ends with beautiful inspiration and a lot of excitement. At PRIMA we love design and we are experts in creating atmosphere: the exhibition is our stage, our place to shine. To involve the audience, to enchant people, to give shape to something unique - just like you hoteliers do with your guests. This year's creative concept will be breathtaking. As always, we will take our enthusiasm all over Italy and try to share our spirit with you: follow our journey and let us inspire you. #PRIMAxYou #WeCraftVisions #TheHospitalityExperience

As booth design professionals, we're always looking forward to the world's biggest exhibitions, but history shows that even the greatest events can face challenges.🌐 In October 1851, at the Great Exhibition held at Crystal Palace, a celebratory firework went wrong, igniting a fire. Quick action from London's fire brigade contained the blaze in two hours, saving the Palace and exhibits. This close call teaches us important lessons for any big event: ✔Plan for the unexpected: Even the coolest events can go wrong. ✔Work together: When everyone helps, even disasters can be tackled! ✔Learn from mistakes: The fire made the organizers build an even safer Crystal Palace later. So, next time you're at an exhibition event, remember the Crystal Palace fire. Be prepared, work together, and have fun!🤗

Love this explaination of the namesake of Wever & Ducre: This is us THE PRONOUNCIATION OF WEVER & DUCRÉ Every story has to have a beginning. Ours begins in the early eighties, when a handful of young Belgians decide to start a new lighting company. So far, so good. Yet what name should the company be given? Since several official languages are spoken in Belgium - including Flemish and French - there was only one choice: The name would need to be equally at home in both worlds, phonetically. Then, by chance, a document fell into the hands of the company's founders: a little guide to a successful life. His advice: Hard work (“WERklust”), trust (“VERtrouwen”) and enthusiasm (“ENthousiasm”), but also courage (“DUrf”) and a good dose of creativity (“CREativiteit”). Today, these five points still constitute our company philosophy. Light Establishment are proud to represent this Belgium Lighting Company with a world-wide focus. https://lnkd.in/dMy5rDMV
