There's some changes afoot here at Halcyon Women's Health®!   For the last couple of years I've been talking about the different strands of my business as separate entities in different spaces, but over the coming weeks you'll start to see me talking about them all together. Because they are not 3 separate strands: They all are all part of the same beautiful, powerful offering and it's daft not to yell that from the rooftops! Stepping out of the shadows and talking about my corporate women’s health support in the same breath as my generic 'wellbeing & team connection' sessions, women’s circles and individual treatment programmes feels like the most natural, empowering step forward and I’m so excited to share it with you! The overlap between these areas is incredible and in talking about them all, I can help women who are struggling (and those who support them) in a more holistic and comprehensive way. Did you know that c70% of women struggle with menstrual health issues? It’s staggering! From conditions like endometriosis (1 in 10 women), fibroids (1 in 3 women), and PMDD (1 in 20 women) to those who are struggling with challenging menopause transitions, so many of us are dealing with our symptoms every single day. And these aren’t just numbers – they represent the real, often silent struggles of millions of women. Women you know and love. And maybe even you yourself. That’s why I’m so passionate about this new direction in the way I talk about my business. My mission is to help women move beyond these symptoms and rediscover their vibrant, authentic selves. By combining my women’s health promotion with the nurturing environment of our women’s circles, the more generic wellbeing and positivity advice and gems of knowledge from my treatment programmes, I've realised that I create a beautiful, supportive space where we can share our experiences and support each other. I’m still working directly with women to provide support and guidance. I’m still going into businesses to help managers and staff understand more about the symptoms millions of women face every year and how to minimise their impact. I'm rebranding my wellbeing & connection days (more about that in the coming months). And I'm still hosting my Halcyon Days® women's circles. It's just that now you'll be able to see more of how it all fits together, how we're transforming women's lives and how we’re creating more supportive, empathetic workplaces where women (and men, and profits!) can thrive. Hearing directly from participants is the real highlight! A few weeks ago, I hosted a LinkedIn Live event addressing the challenges of dysmenorrhea and strategies for its management. Below is one of the many valuable pieces of feedback I received from the event. I also had the privilege of inviting three amazing health experts to discuss this topic, and they provided excellent insights. Ulan Gabriella Mapis addressed the major differences between primary and secondary dysmenorrhea and the precise recognition of each form of dysmenorrhea. Dr. Ulnan Mapis further emphasized on the importance of women seeking medical assistance from a healthcare expert rather than self-medicating. Rukayat Aramide Yusuf emphasized on the need of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including proper nutrition, healthy sleeping habits and frequent physical activity, to effectively cope with dysmenorrhea. Dr.Sanobar Sheikh emphasized the need of adopting a healthy lifestyle by avoiding specific foods. She further discussed the psychological effects that dysmenorrhea can have on women and how it can be managed. Women should actively take care of their health, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and seek help from healthcare professionals when needed. If you are new here…. This month I'll be looking at endometriosis🌿✨ Did you know these eye-opening facts? 🔹 1 in 10 women and those assigned female of birth of reproductive age in the UK suffer from endometriosis. 🔹 10% of women world wide have endometriosis - that’s 176 million worldwide. 🔹 The prevalence of endometriosis in women with infertility can be as high as to 30–50%. 🔹 Endometriosis is the second most common gynaecological condition in the UK. 🔹 Endometriosis affects 1.5 million women and those assigned female at birth, a similar number of those affected by diabetes.4 🔹 On average it takes 8 years from onset of symptoms to get a diagnosis.5 🔹 Endometriosis costs the UK economy £8.2bn a year in treatment, loss of work and healthcare costs.6 🔹 The medical profession don't know the cause of endometriosis is unknown and so they are unable to offer a cure. (endometriosis-uk.org) Meta Consciousness® however, is able to offer us insights into why the body would make these changes. Our symptoms are never random. The body is always trying to achieve something, but when it makes adaptations as a result of trauma and we get stuck in this unhelpful pattern, it can lead to dis-ease. When we learn how to decode the language of our symptoms it unlocks valuable healing wisdom which can guide us back to greater wellbeing. Let's talk about something that's been a taboo for a long time. That's right, women's health, particularly what they have to go through. Menstrual cycles and hormonal changes are a significant part of many women's lives, but workplaces often overlook these realities. Office jobs are typically not designed to accommodate the fluctuations in energy, mood, and physical well-being that women experience due to their hormonal cycles. This lack of consideration can lead to increased stress, decreased productivity, and a general decline in quality of life for women in the workplace. Women dealing with irregular periods, heavy periods, and the hormonal upheaval of perimenopause face even greater challenges. These conditions can cause physical discomfort, emotional distress, and social difficulties, making it harder to maintain the same level of performance expected in a standard work environment. It's imperative for workplaces to become more accommodating and supportive. Flexible schedules, the option to work from home, and a more understanding approach to sick leave can make a substantial difference. It is crucial for healthcare professionals, employers, colleagues, and families to understand these challenges. Comprehensive education and awareness are necessary to ensure women's experiences are acknowledged and supported. Sadly, there is still not awareness, and women's feelings and struggles are often dismissed, leading to increased stress and depression. Let's talk openly about these challenges to enhance awareness and to foster empathy and understanding among colleagues, friends and families. Breaking the silence will help reduce the stigma surrounding women's health issues, and empower women to seek help they need without fear or judgement or dismissal. No matter what age you are, you know your body better than anyone. If you have symptoms, don't let anyone tell you that you are too young or you are imagining it. Listen to your body and push for the help you deserve!
