Finding the words to say to someone who lost a baby is a hard task. Baby loss is still a taboo in most communities, a "dirty little secret". My own journey with our twin girls, Mary Nephele and Maya Lily, has taught me the impact that words can have during such a difficult time. This is why this campaign by Sands - baby loss charity resonates so deeply with me. We need to raise awareness about the importance of what to say to individuals and families who have gone through baby loss. Regardless of how the baby/babies were lost, the physical and mental impact will stay with them forever. It is perfectly normal to feel uncomfortable about this subject and not to know what to say. Most parents who go through this are aware of how tough it is to find words of solace for themselves, nevermind anyone else. Sands and Tommy's, too, have got many resources to help you find those words to say. They also provide training for companies to ensure that returning to work is a safe space for people who just experienced baby loss. Let's all strive to break the stigma surrounding baby loss by finding the right words to say.
