"Nothing has changed since Sandy Hook." We’ve heard it many times, but that's simply not true. Several families united to launch Sandy Hook Promise the month after the tragic school shooting. Since then, we have successfully written and driven the passage of 3 federal laws under 3 administrations. And our SAVE Promise Clubs are now the largest student-led anti-violence organization in America. Read on for more life-saving changes and join us to continue making progress by texting PROMISE to 79775. #HonorWithAction #NeverForget #ProtectOurKids #EndGunViolence #SandyHookPromise

Imagine if one simple action could save a life. By securely storing your firearms, you can prevent accidental shootings, suicides, and the use of stolen guns in crimes. Take a moment today to check how your guns are stored and ensure they are out of reach of children and those who shouldn’t have access. #SecureStorage #EndGunViolence #ProtectOurKids #SandyHookPromise

Gun violence is now the leading cause of death among children in America, surpassing car accidents, cancer, and drug overdoses. Simultaneously, the U.S. faces a worsening youth mental health crisis, further intensified by the pandemic. This dangerous combination of rising mental health challenges and more unsecured firearms in homes is driving a surge in gun violence, suicides, and school shootings. In spite of these challenges, we can all do our part to keep kids safe. Which is why we’re taking action. At Clinton Global Initiative with Nicole Hockley, we announced a significant expansion of our 'Promise Leader' volunteer program, focusing on regions most affected by gun violence, including Texas, Kentucky, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee—states with some of the highest rates of gun violence and the greatest opportunity for meaningful, community-driven solutions that engage gun owners and non-gun owners alike. We’re looking for future Promise Leaders who can join our movement to protect youth – because gun violence is preventable. Thursday marked the one-year anniversary of the Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Nicole Hockley and Mark Barden, our co-founders and co-CEOs, Elizabeth Murphy, M. Aurora Vasquez, Esq., and Melissa Waage from our Action Fund team, and other champions of the movement joined President Biden and Vice President Harris for the announcement of a new Executive Order designed to reduce gun violence and save lives, including new direction for federal agencies to improve school-based active shooter drills. We are the only national gun violence prevention organization implementing K-12 programs and a leading expert on active shooter drills in schools. In 2022, student leaders from Sandy Hook Promise brought to light the negative impact of active shooter drills in schools. Their insights provided the groundwork for our model ‘Students Safe at School’ legislation which aims to help students feel safe and supported. "I’m grateful to see the Biden-Harris administration embrace enhanced guidelines for improved school-based drills, uplifting these students’ perspectives and strengthening school safety in communities across the country. We know from experts in education, mental health, psychology and violence prevention that a more trauma-informed approach to active shooter drills is necessary, and these executive orders will help to make that a reality.” – Mark Barden, father of Daniel who was killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy #ProtectOurKids #EndGunViolence #Advocacy #SHPAction #SandyHookPromise

Today, my sweet little Daniel should have been celebrating his 19th birthday, and thousands of people have already joined me in honoring his memory by signing a special remembrance card. There are no words to describe the pain of knowing that we’ve now spent more of Daniel’s birthdays without him than we celebrated with him. I desperately wish I could change that, but I can’t. What keeps me moving forward is building a legacy for Daniel by protecting other children from gun violence and sharing his generous spirit with the world. That’s why it would mean so much today if you would help me honor Daniel – and all of the love and kindness he brought to this world – by signing our remembrance card. Please sign our special remembrance card marking my sweet little Daniel’s 19th birthday. Thank you so much for helping me honor Daniel’s memory. It means a lot on especially difficult days like today. Mark Barden (Daniel’s father) https://lnkd.in/e5qax48A #SandyHookPromise #EndGunViolence #ProtectOurKids

To mark the 1-year anniversary of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, the Biden-Harris Administration announced new executive orders designed to reduce gun violence and save lives, including new direction for federal agencies to improve school-based active shooter drills. We’re grateful for the new executive orders prioritizing trauma-informed school safety drills—helping students feel safer and more supported. "We must never stop moving forward, with purpose through our pain, which is why we remain committed to working with elected leaders at all levels of government across all political parties to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of our children,” - Nicole Hockley, co-founder and CEO of Sandy Hook Promise and mother of Dylan, who was killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. We continue to champion bipartisan solutions to #EndGunViolence and #ProtectOurKids. https://lnkd.in/duUbC9rq #SandyHookPromise

In a new article from Education Week, Crystal E. Brown-Garrant reports a threefold increase in daily anonymous threat reports, underscoring the urgency of this issue. #ProtectOurKids #SandyHookPromise #EndGunViolence
